Okay? See the prices? $60-90.
Stick with us for a while and you will hopefully spend less and get a LOT more out of it. (I am anti-geeksquad)
What I recomend is to NOT transfer your data. I have bigger plans for you.
The idea is to spend about $40-90 on a new hard drive depending on how much space you want. Aim for $40 for a 160gb drive, $90 for 300gb drive (will probably have to deal with rebaes). That way you have a good benchmark in prices. Wait for the sunday add or do some online searching.
Unplug your current hard drive then connect your new drive to it. Install windows. Then when its all done and ready to go, plug in your old drive.
What is the advantage of this?
More storage
Newer drives are faster so it will just feel faster overall
Less time consuming to start a fresh drive compared to backup, transfer, format, transfer back.
Cost is not too bad especially if you get a 160gb drive.
Disadvantage of this?
You have to touch the insides of a computer O_O (this is subjective for the person, some are just ifne others are omg omg omg)

That way you put in the new big drive into your laptop, install all your windoze stuff, and connect your old drive as an external USB drive.

First of all would you be okay with opening your computer and attaching a second hard drive? Because its very easy to do, but some are cautious about it.
If you are okay with it, then whatever data that is on your drive right now will be still there when you are done. If my idea made any sence to you what you will do is REPLACE the drive so you can format install and do whatever then ADD your old drive as a secondary drive. That way you will have full access to your old data and a new drive in the computer.
