Hi everyone,

Please share a few of your pics from each country you've visited and what you thought of the country.

I've already purchased flights out to Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, China + Hong Kong, Singapore for next year.

I don't like to go on holidays and I don't like staying in flash hotels. I prefer to backpack and stay at hostels were I can meet and mingle with modest ppl who are also travelling to see the world and the fascinating cultures of each country.

Here are some places I've been to so far... though I didn't get a chance to take pics in Mexico cause I didn't have a camera then. Don't mind the blur on the face, I had to do that to protect my identity from a few online stalkers who like to steal my pics to wh0re around on other forums.

Buckingham Palace in London

Big Ben in London

A real telephone box in London.. hella old skool!

Weather in London is so freggins shiats.. always cold, overcast and rainy. Even on sunny days, it will always rain. London is EXPENSIVE! Food, everything is expensive in London. Though a beautiful city and a perfect base to travel Europe.

Wat Pra Kaew in Bangkok

Hmong hilltribe village in Chiang Mai, Thailand

Typical food stall/restaurant in Thailand

Hualamphong Station in BKK. No seats so ppl sit and lay on the ground.

Thailand is an amazing country! People are so friendly. Girls are so shy. Everyone is so chilled and modest. Everythings is CHEAP and can be bargained. Been there twice, going again next year.

Star walk in Hollywood, USA

I have gazillions of pics of the US but I haven't uploaded any and I cbf'd. But the USA is such a cool country. You can find anything and everything and everyone is trying to be someone or something. Been there 3 times and going again next year.

eating dodgy KFG (imitation of kfc) in Laos... some random food place on the side of the road. There is NO western influence in Laos. No McDonalds, no KFC, no pizza, no spaghetti

Visiting a Hmong new year celebration in a town near Vientiane in Laos. The girls are wearing traditional Hmong costumes.

Bus ride from Vientiane to Xieng Khoung. Bus was doing like 100km/h along the edge of the cliffs. I have never been so scared in my whole life.

Plain De Jars in Xieng Khouang

Laos is such a quiet and peaceful 3rd world country. It's a communist country so there isn't any western influence whatsoever. Everyone is as it was 30 years ago. Many parts of Laos have no running water and electricity. Ppl are so friendly and kind. Love this place!

Capsule hotel in Akihabara, Japan. Dangs so hella claustrophobic!

FISHING in downtown Tokyo! lmfao!!!

At a typical Sushi bar in Yokohama

Cool toilets which spray water! so cool and crazy! then it blows air to dry!

Funny @ss menu lmao

Either Shinjuku or Shibuya.... =)

Japan is fun crazy sexy cool! Gotta go there again! Ppl are waaaaaaaaaaay too polite and shy. Ppl who work in retail are waaaaaaaaaay too helpful and kind and polite it's ridiculous. Japan is kawaii!! Harajuku is crazy and funky.

Mt Hutt, New Zealand

Downtown Christchurch on a Sunday evening

Methven on the South Island

Typical typical NZ meal... fish and chips! and oh so freggin CHEAP! Like $2 for a piece of fish and $1 for chips!

South Island in NZ is BEAUTIFUL! Boring luscious country side green beautiful. Sheep everywhere, big empty open roads, cool fresh crispe air, crystal clear rivers.. but small and BORING!!

Typical Aussie backyard BBQ with my best friend's family.

Please share your images and stories!

Thanks! smile.gif

I’m so jealous of where you’ve been and where you will be going!

I’m dying to do a Southeast Asia trip … starting from Laos, to Cambodia, to Thailand, to Indonesia, and ending in the Philippines. But as of right now I will be spending all of my vacation time in France (Paris/Grenoble), in January, instead. Excited to start traveling Europe and more of Asia over the next few years and of course South Africa for the 2010 World Cup!

I’m looking into going to North Korea right now for one of the one day tours.

One of my bucket list goals is to join the Traveler’s Century Club, one day … I’m only a few months out of school, I don’t have the funds to travel like I want to or use to though.

Where I’ve lived:
- Massachusetts (born)
- Hong Kong
- South Korea (current)

Where I’ve been:
- In the USA: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Washington DC, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, California, Oregon, Washington, Michigan, Illinois
- Canada: Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton
- Asia: Japan, Taiwan, China (Shantou, Yunnan, Shanghai), Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Macau

I don’t have the time to write up about my travels, but here are some pictures:

Singapore

Taipei 101

Nha Trang

market in Kunming, Yunnan in China

St. Paul's Ruins, in Macau

Shanghai

I haven't traveled much at all but I would really like to someday. I've only been to Maui, Molokai, Hawaii, L.A., Japan
I'm currently living in Hiroshima Japan doing an exchange program at Hiroshima University. Japan has been such a great experience so far. I took these pictures last month:

原爆ドーム, A-bomb dome

平和記念公園, Peace Park

広島城, Hiroshima Castle

厳島神社, Itsukushima Shrine (Miyajima)

大鳥居, Famous Otorii in front of Itsukushima

This year I went to Hawaii (I live on Oahu) to see snow:

Mauna Kea

Mauna Kea Summit (13,500ft), the highest point in the state of Hawaii

i haven't been to that many places, i think? lol the problem with me is, & my parents HATE this about me, is that i don't really remember things? like i've been to japan & korea right, & i hardly remember ANYTHING about being there. only some small things like, spending the night sleeping the japanese airport, this hill that looked like it was doing downhill but when you pour water on the road the water goes uphill, sleeping on the floor in korea (which was SUPER comfy), but other than that i don't really remember anything x_x lol but kay places i've been;

malaysia, korea, japan, vancouver, LA, LV, SF, hawaii, uk, italy, paris, switzerland, thailand, indonesia, hongkong, sydney, brisbane, gold coast, canberra, shanghai, qingdao, somewhere else in china that i forgot :x & i think that's it? yeah. i think lol

i don't have that many pictures, cos i don't keep them on my laptop, but i found a few strays.

skiing at jindabyne, off canberra.

the london eye in well, london lol

colosseum in rome, italy.

in the smallest country in the world, vatican city.

one of the fashion capitals of the world, milan, italy.

the face of toblerone! the matterhorn in zermatt, switzerland.

along avenue des champs elysees in paris. you can kinda see them setting up stands for the tour de france.

& yeah. that's all i found lol my friend & i are planning to hit korea, japan, hongkong, malaysia & my home country, singapore end of next year though. maybe this time i'll take HEAPS of pictures & write a travel journal so i'll actually remember the trip lol

awesome photos guys. travelling is awesome, especially if you allow yourself to submerge into the different cultures.

just a question for those who've travelled alone, any advice - particularly meeting people so things like hostels etc.?

will be going japan for a month alone. i'm nervous and excited at the same time.

Yes, travelling is the best!!!

You are bound to meet so many people at hostels that are travelling alone. It is really easy to just strike up a conversation, maybe with the people that you room with or in the common room. So many people are travelling alone and are very open to meeting people like themselves. Join tourgroups and the hostel will most likely organize some tours that you can sign up on. Just be friendly and don't be scared to talk to people, what's the worst thing that can happen.

Good Luck on your stay in Japan smile.gif

I went backpacking in southeast asia this summer... but it was too short!
i went for about a month, and met people that planned out year long trips...

600 million children live in absolute poverty. 30,000 children die each day due to poverty
Number of children in the world: 2.2 billion. Number in poverty: 1 billion (every second child)
400 million children, one in five, have no access to safe water. Meanwhile, unsafe water and sanitation cause about 4,000 child deaths per day. Every year more than 10 million children die of hunger and preventable diseases - that's over 30,000 per day and one every 3 seconds.

Nice pics!!

hmm....i've been to China, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Canada, London, Mexico, and various cities/states in the US (Vegas, Hawaii, LA, etc...)

I actually stayed in Japan for 6 weeks this past summer to work. I got some pics of places and FOOD! in my 411 thread HERE. It was probably THE BEST place ever. I have to go back someday...maybe after I graduate next year.

Japan:

I thought i'd post more pics of rural Japan (where I mostly stayed) since everyone always thinks of big city life when they think of Japan. Tokyo was AMAZING but I also enjoyed the Japanese countryside.

^I lived next to rice paddies! It was awesome lol.

Taiwan

Korea

London

I got to go to London during a rare heat wave. During my trip, every day was over 90 degrees and it was sunny. It beats the cold and rain that I always hear about but the only bad part was no AC.....the underground was torture!!

Hawaii

^ MUST MUST MUST try the shrimp trucks in North Shore when in Hawaii

Just thought I'd share a few pics of my trip to Taiwan in 06'.

This is a picture of the beach beside the school I was teaching at!

Here is the full view from the school balcony

Apparently wild dogs rule the streets and the soccer fields in Taiwan lol~ Taken at 6am, really foggy

This is the school I taught at! They would send people to random places and I got sent to somewhere good!
