my parents bought me a used '04 G35x after i got my license, and i've put it in the carwash once, and i haven't done anything after that (it's not that dirty). my neighbor got a brand new 350z and he washed it almost everyday during the summer, and he barely took it out to drive. is that because he's a guy, and i'm a girl, and his car is brand new?

my friend told me that i should hand wash my car because it's fun. ...?

do you guys do that?
if you do, how often do you do it?
i hate when there's a seemingly interesting story but i can't read through it because the writing is SO. BAD.

I wash my Z06 once a week. She is no weekend warrior either, I race her at every opportunity, whether it's at a 1/4 mile track or road courses.

I wash my car like every two months, in the summer I washed it almost every 2 weeks. I get lazy >.>

Can we wash our cars in the cold? Like 40? 50 Degrees?

Never take it through a car wash. The only reason why I go to a car wash is because it has a pressure washer. Everything else is crap. Always bring your own stuff to wash a car. Paint is the most delicate material on a car. During the winter time, I wash my car after every rainfall, or least try to.

If you are the type of person who doesn't care for the paints condition, that could work. If you are not, I highly suggest you wash your car at least once a week, maybe twice a month. Rain carries acidic properties which will in turn damage the clear coat surface and creeps it's way into the paint. Hopefully I'm beating a dead horse though.

^ hmm speaking of acidic rain, doesnt car wax help coat the car? i noticed once i waxed my car, i dont even have to soap it to get it shiny clean... it seems the dirt never really stains my car anymore. washes off with just water.. and on the container it says the wax lasts up to 12 months, which i find questionable... but its has been good for a few months so far on my car.

I always thought it was better to polish/wax out of the sun on cool surfaces. But then again 40/50 degrees might be too cold? Dunno.

I wash my car every two weeks. I hate when it rains, and your car gets all dirty, and you want to wash it, but you're not sure if it's going to rain again...my car's dirty as hell 'cause of the recent rains in SoCal, and it's partly sunny but that might change in another six hours. Sigh.

If I had more time (work and school) I would be washing my car every week. I remember times when I used to bring my car to a car wash every few days... but now its down to a month or two at a time. The fact that I don't have a garage or drive way for my car limits the hand washing to whenever I go over to my sister's place (which isn't very often), and have to resort to the crappy automatic car washes we have around here.

Yeah its best to wash in the shade and let it dry under the shade (this prevents water marks).

Also, wash top to down. Use a regular garden hose w/o a nozzel. The finer the mist, the more chances of water marks.

During summer..once a week.

Winter, once every couple weeks or longer, goat stays in the garage most the time anyway.

+1 on the coin wash w/ pressure washer though, bring your own bucket/mit/soap/drying cloth (absorber, waffle weave, w/e), and you can't ask for a better car wash. Really helps because I can also just spray the wheel wells, and get most of whatever is in there, out.

*edit:

It's not even that...paint jobs aren't cheap. That's another $3,000-$5,000 I can use for something else.
