^haha, I don't think rice porriage is "Western" food.
I can only think of good old comfort food when it comes to winter food. (and using things in season)
For soups:
-thick hearty beef stew
-butternut squash soup
Salad:
-Avocado garden salad
-Herbed potato salad
Baked potatoes
Apple glazed sweet potatoes
Main:
-Chicken and Dumplings with fresh veggies (peas, corns and carrots)
-Rosemary lemon chicken with vegtables
-a nice juicy steak
Desserts:
-Grilled fruits with a reduced sweeten balsamic vinaigrette sauce and some mint leaves
-Peach/apple crumble
-Yule Log Cake (it's not winter without it haha)
-Cinnamon baked Golden apples
I have some of the recipes on hand if you need them.
