So I'm very stressed out and VERY miserable in my Computer Science class. I'm doing fine in my other classes, but this one I'm doing badly in this one, I got a C on an exam and F's on all 3 or 4 quizzes that we have taken. I'm considering dropping because i've been doing so poorly and if i do that now, i get a W on my transcript. It's the only W i'm sure i'll ever receive because after this semester, my schedule won't have two hard classes in one semester. So does it look bad? It's just one right? By the way, I was hoping to apply to UC schools. It sounds silly but I want to go to UCLA or UC: Berkely.
If it helps I'm a mechanical engineering major.

A W is better than a C. Hope this helps.

Why is it silly that you want to go to UCLA or any other UC's ? Don't underestimate yourself and your capabilities. You are a smart girl/boy and with a little determination, you can accomphlish things beyond your imagination. If you believe withdrawing from the class is the best choice, go for it. I don't advise doing so, but it won't harm your chances of getting into the UC's you want. My brother also had a W on his transcript (State University) and it didn't affect him whatsoever. Good Luck and Best Wishes in getting into the UC you wish!!
ps. you can always retake computer science again once you transfer.

Well if you want to transfer than I suggest you drop that class because a bad grade on your transcript does not look good unless you have a legitimate reason that you can explain to when applying for transfer. And I'm not too sure but does your CC have a withdraw deadline cause if it's past the deadline, we can't withdraw from the course unless the professor permits and even then the transcript for the course is not a W but the grade we got as an average... so I would first investigate.

A W is better than a a bad grade, simply because it will not affect your GPA. Your GPA is VERY important and you don't want anything to bring that down and hurt your chances. You can always explain why you got a W on your application when you apply for UC's.
Will you even be able to withdraw still? Because the semester is ending soon. For my community college, the last day to withdraw was last Friday.

get the W before it's too late, gpa is pretty important. Also, i know it sounds weird, but take care of your condition. I've got some grades on quizes/homeworks that I wasn't satisfied with only because I didn't get enough sleep or I was stressed that week, try to keep your mind clear and open
-you'll function better.
