Ok, so I have this friend who has a best friend and she was telling me how she likes this guy and her friend goes out with him now. She told me that her friend and her liked him ever since they met. My friend was saying how she likes him, but she knows that he'll pick her friend instead cause she's taller and skinnier than her. I mean, my friend isn't fat, but she's just short and somewhat chubbyishh. The guy that they both like was on the phone with my friend's other friend and so my friend's other friend asked the guy, "If you could choose between J and M, which one would you go out with?" He answered, "I'll go out with J.." So my friend J heard that from her other friend, but she knew that although he said that, he wouldn't really pick her.. The next few days, he finally made a decision and he picked my friend's best friend over her. She felt sad of course, but she was saying to herself, yeah, I had a bit hope for myself, but I know that he would pick her. What was I thinking? So I just went and and said.. Well.. It's okayy.. I meann.. Yeahh... This started when I asked her, if she liked someone cause she asked me if I did and I answered her no and she answered me yes. I think that it's bad to like the same guy your best friend likes.... What do you guys think?....=/

Are your friends in middle school? Because if that's the case, your friends shouldn't be thinking too much of this. In high school people start drifting apart and you'll end up losing some of your friends and "boyfriend" anyways.

It's not necessarily and end-of-the-world thing if two friends like the same guy. As long as they don't get too hostile against each other, feelings for that same person will die fast.

no, i dont think its a bad thing as long as you deal with it rationally.
its happened to me more than once and i still have those friends (and im still friends with some of the guys we both liked.)

anyway its not bad, its quite natural for this to happen actually. friends usually have similar tastes and interests.. including girls/boys.

healthy friendships usually get over this easily, it's only when you become immature and childish that it gets out of hand. which is the most stupidest way to damage friendships IMO.

those kind of situations are just... like.. i don't know how to explain it. I'd be plentyy jealous if I was your friend. I mean, hey. how much would it have sucked to know your close friend and yourself likes this guy.. but the guy picks her over you. it almost makes you feel like your friend is quite superior.
other than that, whenever my friends and i like the same guy (sometimes we get a bit possessive? but other than that, we spazz about him together. we always go crazy and say stupid things like "omgsh! HE'S SO CUTE! HE GOT A NEW FACEBOOK PICTURE! AHH LOOK HOW HOT HE LOOKS"

Lol seems like quite a problem...

From how I see it... I have plenty of friends who've liked the same guys... especially during the early years of high school and we had very little guys in our group o_O
Anyways, what basically happened was that the guys picked no one or someone totally different haha XP
I guess it's a different situation, but the solution is the same... my friends never had a problem with liking the same guy and they learnt to deal with it.
I mean... he's just a guy and if he likes someone over someone else, it's nothing to get upset about ^^'' we've always been a tighter group than that I guess.

I think it's okay and bad at the same timee;;
like this had happen to me one timeee;; but like as a frienddd of my frienddd i didn't let her know thoughh, so then yeahhh i let her like him even though it hurts me inside;; but yeahhh at the enddd none of us got him and stuff but we were really close to him and no feelings were develop because my friend and I talked about it;;

Happened to me and someone I used to call my best friend. In the end, the guy chose me and eventually my friend and I drifted from each other, but still are friends. Drama happened, but I don't regret it because I wouldn't have been able to end up with someone so amazing. 2 years and still going. So, go for it, whether the person you're competing against is your best friend or not. As long as he's not with someone already, all is fair. You'll never know what you're missing out on until you try.

if it was meant to be...you will know....if not, atleast u tried.
your friend should be your friend regardless if u guys like the same person. hint thats why u guys are best friends maybe because u have similar interest and thats why u are compatible with ur best friend. but atleast she should be happy for her best friend and not hold grudges.if he really liked her he wouldve said no to the other person, so really, she saved herself a heartbreak or failed relationship. lol =)

i think this tends to happen a lot because so many girls develop similar taste in guys w/ their good friends because of their influence and vice versa...
