Good morning all from Sydney,

My mate recently purchased a car and he is very satisfied about it.

However, the previous owner misplaced the logbook so I was wondering if it's possible to get a new one? If so, where can you get them and roughly how much?

Also, do you necessarily require a logbook in order to get your car serviced? Is it an absolute necessity or is it only optional?

Thanks for your time biggrin.gif

try ebay, and no logbooks are not required.. my parents take the minivan to dealer for oil changes and any maintenance since its under warrenty but they never use the log book since everything is stored in the computer. we do store the receipts though.

I wouldn't bother getting a logbook, just keep the receipts of anything done to the car.

Logbook is a personal choice and is not mandatory to get a car serviced. Logbook comes handy for those who are looking for a top dollar when selling car, usually for antique cars or highly desirable cars.
