Questions About Dui In California under 21...

I was arrested for a dui yesterday (friday) while going to the beach with a friend after drinking a little bit at a bar. The cop said the reason why i was pulled over was because i was driving 40 mph in a 35 mph zone (-____-) and i am so uhk wool hae (for those of you who understand korean) because i was fine and not drunk at all. I have a really high tolerance and i didnt drink that much so i was perfectly fine to drive. I admit that I do enjoy drinking and have stupidly driven after drinking many times before to be honest. So i am trying to be positive and think that it was bound to happen sooner or later. Although I know that i was very stupid for driving after drinking (as little as it may be) I am just very confused about this whole situation. I have never been pulled over by a cop since I first started driving when I was 15 for ANY reason at all. This was just a very new experience and it just happened to be that I drank last night. The cops made me get out of the car and did some tests like walking a straight line and counting to 30 with my eyes closed. I did them perfectly but he also made me take a breathalyzer test which came out to be 0.09 but because i am under 21 (i am 19 going to be 20 in july) they arrested me and I was taken to a police station and stayed there for 6 hours until 5 am. I took two more tests there and they came out to be 0.08 and 0.07.
I do have some friends that have gotten DUI before but they are either over 21 or i am not that close to them so I dont know exactly what happened. My car was towed from the location and when i called them this morning to see how much I would have to pay, they gave me an estimate of 500ish and because I dont have any money at all right now (my cards are all maxed out and nothing in my account) I basically had to tell my mom what happened and after flipping out at me she finally calmed down and we went to go get the car.
I am just very confused about what to do. I was given a pink slip (temporary drivers license) which I can use for a month but after that my license is suspended for a year. I also was given a court date for december 23. My friends tell me that although my license is suspended, I can still drive to work and school but after this month with the pink slip, what happens? Do i have to go to the dmv and get another license? And also, is it wise to buy an attorney to help me when i go to court? I do have a cousin on my dad's side who is a lawyer but I havent talked to her for a very long time because my dad is not a part of our lives...but if i really do need an attorney i am considering putting my pride aside and calling her for help. For those of you who have had similar experiences, how much were you fined in court? I am so scared about what may happen because our family is very financially unstable. My mom has raised us by herself since I was a toddler and I feel like such a failure because I have to admit I have caused her a lot of trouble in the past too...and then this happened...If any of you guys can help me out please give me any advice...I would really appreciate it
thanks
oh and i also have a question about the insurance on the car. The car is technically mine because I paid for it until now but when we bought it i wasnt 18 yet so it is under my mom's name. Will the insurance go up? my mom says my name is not on the policy though because she chose the cheapest plan...if anyone knows anything, please let me know

As far as insurance I would most definitely expect it to go up, that is if they agree to keep you. It's usually more expensive when you're younger because they consider us to be inexperienced and a possible hazard to other drivers and from what I gather the car itself is insured under your mothers name, but YOU'RE not insured to be driving it. That might be an issue and if I were you I'd swallow my pride and call that cousin of yours. It won't hurt to ask for advice. We're all human and we all make mistakes.

1. Get an attorney
2. Obtain DMV driving records
I'm pretty sure I'm missing some more on what you have to do. Afterwards, I know people like to drink, but I think it's better for everyone including yourself to keep the drinks at home (when you come of age). If you are going somewhere to drink, take only your house key and cell phone. Get a taxi ride to there. I've seen incidences of drunken driving gone worse. Far as court system goes, always hire a lawyer (unless you're a very charismatic orator). I was ticketed for reckless driving not to long ago, hired a lawyer, less than 5 minutes and I didn't say a word. Dropped to improper driving, clean driving record, did everything the lawyer asked me to do.

and bring up that "I have high alcohol tolerance" crap as an excuse.
just because you are such a frequent alcohol consumer that is takes you longer and a bigger amount to feel drunk, your abilities arent impaired.
on the contrary.
if anything that statement will be used against you.
its people like you who constantly over estimate themselves that cause deathly accidents and kill innocent lives.
you dont deserve sympathy
You dont deserve advice
you dont deserve a lawyer
you dont deserve mercy
you should thank GOD that they just caught you this one time.
so freakin man up and accept the punishment they give you.
does any of your loved ones needs to die because of a drunk driver for you to learn your lesson?

But drinking under 21 is illegal (not that people don't do it), and drinking then driving while you're under 21 is even worse.
I don't think much can be done, in your case its not even DUI, DUI is for people who can LEGALLY drink lol. You cant even drink according to law so you are out of luck, you broke just about the biggest laws on the book short of treason and murder lol.
drinking under 21
drunk (over legal limit) while driving

2. you should not be driving and drinking even if you "have high tolerance". You're putting other people's lives at risk by driving.
3. you really don't have anything to fight.. you drank, you drove, you broke the law. if anything they might lower the suspention time but nothing else.
what ever happens, I hope you learned your lesson..

Please keep playing that small violin more and read my first post. If you have nothing to offer constructive wise, please refrain from making "I'm better than art thou because you screwed up and played with everyone's life" remark. Go rant somewhere else. I probably seen more deaths and injuries than you. Thank you and enjoy your popcorn princess.

When I'm usually done with driving, I go to sleep and not drive anymore.
