Second Hand Smoking

But how do you avoid second hand smoking??
Since people will never quit as a whole...there's gotta be other ways to save our lungs right?
I usually try to stay inside a building, and find another route to where I'm going where there are no smokers.
But you can only do so much right?
So I'm wondering what other methods there are to avoid inhaling second hand smoke.
Since it still affects our health even if we're not smoking.
I'm getting tired of standing at the bus stop and holding my breath.

I don't think it's completely unavoidable, which is really disgusting.
I can see that you definitely are trying to decrease your exposure.
I think that if it's say for a couple seconds, say, for example, you're just walking by a smoker, it shouldn't have too big of an impact.
BUT if you have someone in your household who smokes, that's the biggest way to become exposed to secondhand smoking.
Yeah I really hate it when people smoke at the bus stop, but I mean there's only so much we can do though, right?
Okay this post doesn't really answer any question, but I'm just sorta...discussing secondhand smoking.

There was a bylaw passed here that you need to be at least 5m from an entrance when smoking.
Sadly nobody follows that.
Luckily though, I don't live in a heavily polluted area...nor with a smoker.
I'm not exactly gonna live in a bubble either >_< But thanks for the suggestions.

Yeah where I live there's the whole 5m thing, but not a lot of people actually follow that rule.
Like, I'd walk out of the mall, and people are smoking right by the doors.
And it's so gross because the smell just drifts in and you can smell it in the mall.

anyhoooo... i completely understand how second-hand smokers would feel all pissy cuz i feel the same way when i'm eating in a restaurant and some idiot lights up next to me. but i guess what you can do to avoid is to maybe stand few meters away from that person. well either that or water guns.

It was the worst experience of second hand smoke ever. Blegh.

and it's kind of hard to avoid them.
but for me, what i usually do to avoid them is cover my mouth and nose
so the smoke won't go through my lung's and into my body.
so, erm, pretty much yea. that's how i avoid secondhand smoke.

Iono, my dad and my two older brothers smoke 24/7 and I'm always around them.
So 11 years pass and everytime they smoke, I HATE IT. But then after about like 1 minute of them smoking, I get used to the smell and the more they smoke it, the more I like being next to them/smelling it.
AM I a potential "smoker"? I've tried smoking before like when I was like 6 (lol don't ask) and I didn't like it. More recently like about 3 months ago and it was too "pure" for me.
But I still like second-hand smoking.
