Okay, so I just turned 21 last Thursday...
But for some reason.. I don't feel like drinking.

My boyfriend and I had friends over at our house Saturday to celebrate...
and I drank (of course) but not much at all. And everyone kept saying I was not normal because I JUST turned 21 and I didn't want to drink. They said that I should be drinking to the point where I throw up.

Do YOU think I am weird for being a new 21yr old, and not drinking to get drunk?
Are there any other people out there who are like me, who don't like drinking???!

lol you're not weird. but everyone expect you to get all drunk on your 21st birthday. my cousin celebrated her 21st and she wants to get drunk hahaha and forced everyone to drank with her, at the end she wasn't very that drunk. so at the end, it's your choice to get drunk or not.

Lol. I'm exactly like you. You partied at a young age huh? A lot of drinking when you were in MS & HS right? On my 21st bday all we did was go to a bar and I drank 1 drink. That's it. That's what I did on my 21st bday. I spent it at a bar with one drink with my bf. Haha.

I take it as a good sign: you'll drink when you feel like it and not because of some sort of social 'tradition' or peer pressure.

If it makes you feel any better, I didn't drink either when I turned 21.
But then again, that was the Prohibition era.

i got completely trash on my 21st, woke up next day told myself im never drinking again. it onli lasted til the next night.

Everyone different. dont single yourself out weird for not drinking, it your choice, id say u made the right one.

That's normal. A lot of people don't like to drink. I have many friends who just opted for a nice dinner for their 21st.

Though my 21st was a night of shots, caking, shots, karaoke, shots, and burritos. The next morning me and my roommates all woke up at 7 in the morning looking like zombies. We went to class but we were all so hungover that we were incapacitated until 3 in the afternoon. So maybe it's a good thing to not get wasted on your 21st b-day......I don't think i'll ever do a night like that again lol.

Actually, I didn't really even drink before I turned 21. Only sometimes... and that wasn't even until I was 19. AHAHAHA. I was basically a good kid.. until now. O_O lol.

in australia its 18, even so most people have had something to drink by then

there are some days when i seriously want to chill out with the drinking and just relax at home and watch a movie. drinking gets overrated once you turn 21.

It's your birthday, celebrate however you want. I feel drinking is hyped up so much more in America than in other countries. When I was studying abroad in HK (drinking age 18), people got pissed drunk only once a month whereas on my home campus its a near daily routine. I feel its the same for smoking as well where kids feel its cool to do something they aren't allowed and then when they turn 18 they realize they are addicted.

Naah you're normal. Don't make them make you feel like you need to drink more. My peers do the same to me. I'm 22 and I don't drink anymore, and before that, I never really did anyway. If you don't feel like drinking much or at all then you don't have to. There's more to life than drinking.

That's ridiculous. There's no RULE saying you have to get wasted on your birthday. It's peer pressure and can be avoided.
