Deadmau5 calls DJs "fcking Cnts"
Canadian production prodigy Deadmau5 has a reputation for rubbing people up the wrong way, and he’s done himself no favours whatsoever with his latest outburst which is likely to alienate even more fans of his music.
Speaking with Ireland’s Daily Star ahead of shows he played there last month, Deadmau5 (aka Joel Zimmerman) took DJs to task. “They’re fcking cnts,” he ranted. “I don’t really see the technical merit in playing two songs at the same speed together.”
Deadmau5 is in the midst of a world tour to promote the release of his debut LP, Random Album Title, which sees him playing live shows with his famous Mau5head stage costume. The tour will visit Australia early in 2009 as part of the Good Vibrations Festival, and it’s got a lot of dance fans quite excited.
It’s both ironic and amusing that Deadmau5 holds such disdain for the very people who’ve made him a cult star in the dance scene, with DJs worldwide having voted him #1 in five categories at this year’s Beatport Music Awards. Just last week he was also ranked at #11 on the DJ Mag Top 100.
“[DJs are] my number one customer, right, so I’m not gonna go diss every fcking DJ,” he rationalised. “But to say you become this massive… performer by playing other people’s productions at the same speed as someone else’s productions and fading between the two of them, I don’t get it.”

Yikes.
I actually really enjoy the subtlety and technical "completeness" of this guy's music.
Didn't know he was such an arrogant twat though.

Deadmau5- Only Some DJs Are Fcking Cnts
Canadian club star Deadmau5 back-tracked from branding all DJs ‘fcking cnts’ this
week, insisting he was only referring to those who fit ‘the concept that ‘I
recognize as being a "disc jockey"’ in a recent interview with Ireland’s Daily Star.
“Let me start by admitting . . . I did not grow up in the EDM (electronic dance
music) scene. I don’t consider my career to be about "being a DJ". I don’t have "DJ
roots". I never had any intention of becoming a DJ,” he declared in a statement
posted on his Myspace blog.
“And my conception of "DJ's" in general from this standpoint has always been . . .
being forced into some nightclub when I would have rather stayed home, and watch
some dood (dude) mash the "play / stop" button and occasionally move a pitch slider.
Love it or hate it, that's just been my conception of the traditional "dj",” he
said.
“I’m not a total fcking idiot, and I recognize talent when I see it . . . and there
are many talented DJ's out there for sure,” he conceded.
Two weeks previously the Star quoted him as comparing DJs to ‘fcking lawyers’ (‘you
need them but they’re fcking cnts’) adding that he was ‘bored to fcking tears’
with DJs and hoped they ‘will john teshing go the way of the dinosaur’.

This week, however, he took the tabloid to task for ‘picking out all the stupid bits
. . . to interview me about anything other than music . . . is stupid: Period’, to
the consternation of Star Music editor (and acclaimed DJ) Mark Kavanagh.
“The headline (‘Deadmau hates DJs’) was my doing but that’s my job. I made the most
out of the raw material he gave us,” Mark told Skrufff.
“He was a bit mean about our staff writer Ciara in his web postings about this
afterwards, calling her a ‘random chick’ and making her out to have made the quotes
up but we have the tape and she didn’t make anything up,” he continued.
“For the record, Ciara Cunnane is a reputable, full-time staff member at the Irish
Daily Star (and reputable electro-rock DJ around Dublin) and has a copy of the
interview on tape,” he said. “In fairness to Deadmau5, he’s just naïve about the
media,” he added.
