Do you think it is appropriate to have spiky hair in an office? Spiky as in anime spiky, not short hair buzz cut.

anime spiky, you mean like

?
i think it depends where you work..if it's a place where clients or people higher up are actually going to see you then no it's not appropriate..if you're just going to be sitting in a cubicle or office all day then who cares (but I think employers still would care)

That's a bit extreme, maybe similar to the "asian mullet". I'm a programmer, so I don't see clients. I just see other employees.

In a gaming company, everything's allowed pretty much, but the hair will give you a certain impression on the people's personal point of view of yourself.

Anyway, it depends on your work environment. I'm a programmer in a gaming company and there is no dress code nor hair code, my hair's kinda long too but who cares.

yeh depends on the work environment in the office, if its like a bunch of cool young people at work shouldnt really matter.

just try and not make it too extreme.

i dont really care when i come to work, no one to impress >.<

Depends on the work environment as some may be conservative, I would suggest you notice the haircuts of other employees and only push as far as that.

In my profession, dealing with government, military, and foreign military that would be a no no.

But there are lot of business that doesn't mind.

^ you sound like you work for CIA.. hee hee.

I worked at an environmental consulting firm and it was pretty business formal in the office.
Anything other than natural dye and business formal clothing, the boss would give you this look that'd make you feel like you wore something else. Even heels. We changed our flats for 2~3in heels when we knew the Big Boss was coming. So unless you're looking for early retirement I would suggest you find another style.

Nah, just an Aerospace Company.

But I have to interface and give presentations to those three entities to gain contracts or to provide milestone status.

that job sounds so much more exciting than writing pre-demolition inspection reports for hazardous materials and giving approval before buildings come down. haha. tongue2.gif

I think spiky hair is a bad call in general, but if you're not seeing clients, then it shouldn't be too much of a problem. But it definitely won't help in any practical way.

I'm a programmer and Quality control and I just wear a suit and tie to work. I'm not sure how spiky you want your hair but I'm the boss where I work so it's nice to set a good example. I personally don't care how my employee's dress as long as it's safe. You can wear whatever you like as long as OSHA doesn't come fine me tongue.gif

It really depends on your work environment, and how finicky your bosses are. I had a 7-inch mohawk at my job, and I work customer service at a dormitory's front desk, so I'm right up there where parents and administrators and the like have to interact with me. XD My supervisors actually complimented me on my hair. Of course, this is a student position at a fairly liberal campus, so that's one thing--I've also heard of people who were told to cover their tattoos in the office, even though they were working telephone tech service, and no clients would ever see them!

I say just go for it if there's nothing explicitly against it in your work's dress code, and let your boss tell you of s/he has a problem with spiky hair.

I hate to say this, but if you have to ask....

Then either you are not familiar with your work environment yet OR it's most likely not appropriate. Doesn't mean you can't do it though, but you will more than likely going to have to respond to the consequences.
