are u sure it wasn't a costume?
anyway, just to be first to tell u b4 some person here says that it's mostly about doing a heap load of crunches,
it's actually more about ur diet and doing more cardio. THEN u do the crunches.

exercise, eat healthy. Doing crunches alone might not help but try the 8 min ab that everyone is talking about. Push up works better than crunches according to my trainer.

a LOT of cardio & a lot of ab work outs

abs are made in the kitchen
Everyone has abs, it's just a matter of getting rid of the layer of fat that is covering it. Doing a billion ab crunches won't get your abs to show.
The best way is to eat right, which means you'll need to understand how much calories you burn and work out how much calories you need per day including cardio training.
Diet + Cardio > ab exercise.
Other than that doing a billion ab crunches will just make your abs bigger.

supposedly for 6 packs (I know you aren't going for this look probably) you need to get down to 14% body fat. However, it's dangerous for girls to go down below 16% (you won't have menstrual cycle so on). just lower your body fat percentage to around 16-19 and hopefully it'll show up. although my friend's tiny she doesn't have great abs and all the fat's on her stomach o_O
