He should drive you home or walk and catch public transport with you.
But in this case, since he's your ex, and he still harbors resentment, he obviously isn't keen on wanting to take you home. Maybe you should take this as an indication that he may or may not want your company.

That shouldn't be an excuse.
well it could be a good reason, I had to walk my friend home at 330am in a shabby neighbourhood (where she lived). I lived 25 minutes away and so I spent 50 minutes for no reason, plus when I walked back I felt really insecure myself. I'm a human being too. Women need to realize that sometimes T_T Toronto<3 (I call him toronto) has a good point then...

hehe... it kinda sucks. we broke up for more than half a year but we still did couple things at times
we're long distance now cause he went away for school
he came back today so we hung out.. and yeah i still have feelings..
and him? he says he loves me but not in the kinda way
he knows i still like him too

seriously take the bus earlier
dont blame it all on him
like my friend who gets driven home by me a lot is considerate enough to take in notion that sometimes she may be taking us for granted too much so she goes home by herself as well

What kind of guy is he? Is he a girl or something? Holy crap...If it's late at night, I'm pretty sure even if he just fell asleep or is busy, he'd take the time to drive you or if he can't drive AT LEAST walk with you back home..
I have never let a girl walk home alone and if I'm driving I would definitely give her a ride, even if she insist she walks alone. It's not worth worrying over these things, especially if by the weird chance something happened to her, could you honestly live with yourself?
Hence, I would always try to make sure the girl gets home safely, cause I don't want to be blamed nor have something happen to my friends or anyone in particular.
Example: My friend(a girl) wanted to walk home at like 11pm-12am, were it's pitched-black in the summer alone, since she only lives like 5-7 minute walk, like 4 blocks? I just walked outside after I found out she left. I caught up with her and just walked with her, even when she refused and told me everything's fine etc etc. It was pretty awkward thought since she tried really hard to get me to leave and let her walk alone *shrugs* girls...hahaha
but BOTTOM LINE: you need to make better friends that will actually care for your safety..what kind of guy lets the girl walk alone AT NIGHT...you can pretty much ask around and see how many guys would let a girl walk alone at night... I bet you it's not a lot and REALLY rare..
now you know what an heartless or "gentlemen" he is by letting you walk home alone...you shouldn't even affiliate with him or at least try to take the bus or get home earlier before it gets dark..
