For the past month and a half, I've been jump roping about 200-500 jumps a day. (usually take a few short rests in between)

I've been eating healthy and cutting proportions.. and doing this with jump roping I was hoping to lose weight. At first I thought "just give it some time" but most people see at least a little difference after a month; however, I haven't seen any difference. None. Nothing. Nil. mellow.gif

And it's making me unmotivated and now I'm thinking: "Why waste the time if it doesn't work?" n__n

Am I doing something wrong? I also do some push ups, sit ups and other cardio activities when I take some short breaks from skipping. My diet consists of lots of fruit, water and some carbs. I get normal amount of sleep too. (7-10 hours depending on the day)

Thanks in advance. I feel so unmotivated right now. D:

Doing 200-500 Repetitions of rope jumping is equivalent to running for 5 minutes :/. The truth is, you need to add more intensity to it, for the cardio training to be effective.

Try not to do repetitions, but instead target a time. Try jumping non-stop for 15 minutes or until fail than gradually build on that by adding 5 minutes extra to the timer each week.

it's great that your diet consists of healthy food, however the important factor in this is how much calories do you really intake per day, since your goal is to lose weight.

This however requires you to understand your own body, how much calories you burn per day and how much cardio activity you do per day.
For you, i will.

Okay thank you that clears it up. I feel quite pathetic and foolish right now. ph34r.gif ph34r.gif

I only have access to a jump rope and I can't run outside because as soon as I get home, it gets dark and a bit unsafe in my suburb. I also tried doing more jump ropes but they toned my legs too much and made them a bit bulky and awkwardly.. u_n

Maybe I'll just do some more walking everywhere.

Thank you. I will definitely need to remind myself about the intensity.

Also another reason people start to lose motivation is because they train hard but don't lose weight or see any difference. That's because they neglect one of the most important factor that goes side-by-side with cardio/exercising when they are trying to lose weight which is Eating Right. You can train everyday, but if you eat more than the calories you burn at the end of the day, you will not lose weight.

Hope that helps! And good luck smile.gif

10 minutes of jump roping = 30 minutes jogging

Also jump roping does not burn off a much calories as you think it does. If you wanna loos wait do more cardio workouts. Invest in some work out tapes ie aerobics and such.

Another thing is that of course you are not going to see much of a difference because a. its you, you see your body everyday so sometimes is hard to notices changes and b. 1 1/2 months is not enough time to notice change..it may take like 6 mo average. I've been going to gym and it opnly after 6 months or so that i have ppl commenting that it looks like i lost some weight ( i still need to loose a lot more though =P).

Dont trust your scale cause muscle weights more than fat, you should measure yourself at like the upper thight, waist, hip and such.

I think since you doing everything right just up the intensity of your work out. If you have a gym nearby and have the money to do so, join a gym or take some gyme classes ie kickboxing they are usually 45min long and since you're in a group you are less likely to give up.

I hope this helps. Good luck w. ur workout!

hi hi. results don't happen with a 1.5 months. Results can take up to 6 months to see plus you need to add other exercises to make your body work for results. Keep up the good work! I didn't see results till at least 6 months with going to the gym and eating right.

ive seen results in 2 months or so but thats cuz ive been eating right and been goin to 24 hours everyday so if you workout right and do the right things like eating right and exercising right, you dont have to think itll take 6 months to see results.
....cuz the music left wit you.

I notice you said "My diet consists of lots of fruit, water and some carbs."
You do realize that fruits = carbs right? Most people fall into this trap that fruits
are nothing but water. That is completely false. Fruits do contain calories and are
mainly made of carbs. With that being said, you should probably cut down your carb intake.
To allow us to help you the best, you should post a sample of what you would eat
in a typical day and portion size helps too. Your exercise regime may be totally fine,
it might just be your diet that's not on point right now. You can't really quantify how much
better skipping is vs running and vice versa, it highly depends on the intensity of the
individual on any given exercise. Both are good cardio activities for weight loss.

How many months did you repeated that jump roping exercise? I saw some difference after 3~4 months or so, but I got to remember you that you need to count in other various work outs, too. Not just simple work outs as crunchs, sits up, blah blah. Try working out outdoors, it's a big cooperation but maybe it'll show some better difference. Don't expect too much on jump roping, you really need patience and intensity individually in every work out results you're anticipating for.

hmm jump rope is a good way to burn off calories, but u gotta try to jump rope for like 30mins for it to be effective. The easiest way to achieve this time is to watch how boxers jump rope, it takes a while to get into the rythm/co ordination, but once u have a grasp of it u dont wanna stop. It makes skipping non boring.
