Few questions... for poll because it's an interesting topic (that I think has already been done? >_<) and because it has to do with a decision I have to make.

Ladies
1] Would you change your last name with marriage? and if so, how?
~keeping your last name
~putting yours and his last name together
~making your last name your middle name and taking his last
~losing your last name altogether
~something else?

* What is common?
I never really knew about the making your last name your middle name thing...
I'm a little lost as what to do because I like my original middle name and I definitely want to take my husband's last name, but my maiden name is also very unique... and then again I don't want to have something ridiculously long?

Gentlemen
1] Would you take your wife's last name or combine the two, or what?

Both
---> What are your thoughts in general?

-----> If a name change is not in the picture, will you do something special?
(ie- get tattoos or something?)

Paperwork question:
I'm having difficulties looking up information in how to get your name changed with marriage... I hear it's different with every state. My state is Nevada. If anyone could help I'd be much obliged happy.gif... also I will just be going through the civil ceremony and to mainly get paperwork done... the actual marriage with family and everything we'll save for when I'm finished with school and have more stability. I'm not sure what first steps to take~ I also want to at least make this special though~ what's something I could do?... all I have so far is that I'd like to wear a decent dress and have pictures taken >_<

What are some jewelry places to get decent rings? (lol tiffany's is saved for the family ceremony)

Any dress suggestions? I have no idea where to look for nice ones, you know like awards-type? (no forever 21 or something like that >_<)

i'd keep my own last name when i get married
but i'm chinese and i think it's kind of the norm, at least in china.. i don't know anybody who has changed their last name =s
but i'm pretty sure, even if married someone caucasian etc, i'd keep my last name

I'm a guy and I will not change my last name.

When I get married, and if my wife doesn't want to change her last name, I wouldn't have problems with it.

Well, I'm a girl, but I don't really know all the legalities about middle names and new last names. I know that when I get married, I'll be changing my last name, and it doesn't really matter for me cause I don't have a middle name anyway.

I think most girls change their last names. I think it's nice!

i would really want to keep my last name when i get married.
not because of the fact that i wouldnt like my husbands last name or whatnot,
but just on the fact that to me, my last name defines who i am.

but i might consider his last name if it was combined with mine or if mine was turned into a middle name.

i dont want to put it this way, but i guess its kind of a pride thing for me

hm. iono. i kinda like how my name sounds. so im guessing i'd probably keep it. if my future hubby's last name sounds nice with my first name, then i might change my last name. maybe. i wouldn't add his last name to mine cuz my super chinesey last name probably won't match with any other last name. haha.

uhhh...iono if this is the type you're looking for, but here's a site for dresses (mainly ones for weddings): www.davidsbridal.com

Not for me, I don't think so.
But my mom says that Asian women generally don't? Is this true? o_O

I'd keep my name, and make my wife's last name our children's middle name.
That is...if she agrees, heh.

^I think it only applies in their chinese name, but in english name they tend to take their husbands.

I plan on keeping my last name, in English and Chinese. I actually like the sound of my name, well i gotten used to being called that and I can't imagine being called by some other name.

My mom took my dad's last name. Her Middle name is her maiden name.
But she keeps her second name. 'Cause her name's Maria Elaine.
So she uses Elaine as her first name.

Yeaahh..

Me though, I'd like to keep my last name. Haha. We're all girls in the family, so it'd be a shame to lose my dad's name altogether.
I could use his last name as my middle name though, or combine it.
I'll let my kids have the father's last name though, and have my maiden name as their middle.

For me it'd depend on how well my name rolls on the tongue with the husbands last name, tbh! If it just sounded plain awful and should be avoided at all cases, I would probably keep my last name. But probably when the time comes, it won't matter. Ahah.

For me, it depends on the last name. If I like it, I wouldn't mind changing it.
