I just got a full-time job, and it is traditional (and thoughtful) to get those close to you something nice with that first paycheck. I think I want to get my parents something, but I'm not sure what. What did you guys do? Anything at all? It's not an enormous paycheck, so it'd have to be something simple, but I'm not sure what best fits the occasion...

Take you parents out to eat? Go to a mid-range restaurant. Some place a lot better than Burger King but not like a place with $40 entrees.

With my first paycheck I treated my family to a nice meal which cost about 80 odd quid, yikes.

I think dining out is the best way to spend your paycheck with/for your parents.

Yeah, it's basically payback for everyone who's ever treated you out.

I bought my mom a genuine leather wallet, the long type with a zip closure around it.

I think I know why this is a tradition.

Once your parents literally crap their pants discovering that you finally got a job and making your own money, they're going to need new underwear.

Hell, with my first paycheck I not only had to buy my parents new underwear, I had to chip in for Pine-Sol, a new mop, and some air freshener. mellow.gif

Haha actually it's because back in the old days, flannel underwear (like the thick red ones) were considered a luxury of sorts and were precious (especially in the winter) because of the lack of a good heating system in the house, or so I hear smile.gif

Oh how disappointing when I look back on it. xD

When I received my very first paycheck... I think I bought anime or manga with it... I know for sure I spent it on myself lol.
