So roughly estimating, when will the movie come out? Roughly 2010?????
b/c i want them to be suffice age if they do intend to do all four remakes of all four books (which I really really hope for).

But, to me, this won't be so great, being that I'm not much of a "Jacob" supporter. I mean, who is?--when Edward Cullen is in the house.

lol a lot of people seem to not like jacob >< i actually liked him, he created more..."action" XD but of course my vote goes to edward laugh.gif and i hear new moon will come out in either late 2009 or early 2010; but now since they are looking for a new director i have no idea >< for some reason i think they should use the harry potter director for new moon (lmao so random) harry potter seems to be the only other movie that is ALMOST similar to twilight...minus the romance since twilight has more of that.

'Twilight' stars see red
Hot ''Twilight'' stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are hot under the collar -- unhappy their director, Catherine Hardwicke, won't be back to direct them in ''New Moon,'' the next film based on Stephenie Meyer's second novel in her megabest-selling vampire love story.

''They are both very upset,'' a good Hollywood source told me Monday. ''They are committed to doing at least the next 'Twilight' film -- and probably the one after that -- but they really wanted to do them with Catherine.''

Stewart in particular, is furious about it, reportedly telling a close associate, ''I sure hope they don't f--- it up,'' referring to the "New Moon" movie.

huh... funny how Kristen is upset about it when she didn't do so hot in the movie either. I know a bunch of people that were less than happy with her performance. In my opinion, KRISTEN better not ef it up because most of it will be about her and Jacob.

I hmm I hope Melissa does NOT ruin New Moon. All though new moon isnt my favorite book, I dont want to see it butchered. I'd rather Summit take its time with the production to make it GOOD than rush it to meet the fan craze and make it bad ): I really want them to do the books justice just how some other really good series are getting pretty good movie makes.

Kristen Stewart is so gangster...
Outside the movie, she totally defies my image of the selfless, kind-hearted Bella I imagined.

Again, with the changing the director, I like it but I don't like it.
I mean, if Rob and Kristen (who I think should move onto the next movies) don't feel great about it and want to call Twilight saga quits,
I will be VERY sad.

Especially with Rob gone.
He plays a great Edward.

... for Bella, ehhhh... I think other actress could've done better,
but I can't deny that rob and kristen have GREAT chemistry.

You know what, I say, if it was done and filmed already, and they did all the promotions for it, don't delay!
Well, they released the movie early due to the high demand of Twilight so... maybe the same will go for New Moon.

Maybe the long wait won't be so bad. I mean, I felt like Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter came out so fast, one after another.
I don't know....

Twilight Sequel Offer From Summit To Directo Chris Weitz

Yes, he's had tremendous success working with tweens and teens (About A Boy as director and writer, American Pie as producer and uncredited director). But Chris Weitz also did The Golden Compass (as writer and director), and my source says Summit Entertainment liked the look of that even if it didn't heat up the domestic box office (but did better overseas). I don't have official confirmation yet that this Twilight sequel offer has gone out to Weitz. But my insider says another reason it came down is because Weitz and Summit's president of production Eric Feig are longtime pals. The source tells me Weitz is "still considering" the offer to helm New Moon and possibly also Eclipse if the sequel and threequel movie adaptations of Stephenie Meyer's series of vampire books are made back-to-back. This info follows my news that Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke is off the film franchise.

This is still a rumor but apparently this site is also one of the first to break the news that Catherine won't be part of New Moon so there must be some grain of truth to this article.

I'm practically looking forward watching "New Moon" Jacob and Bella. I like the friendship between them except the fact he likes Bella more than a friend but he's not giving up on her. But what I'm wondering is how the hell are they gonna make Jacob taller? He's supposed to be like 6'5 in the beginning and grew more into a 6'7 native and the end. How are they gonna pull that off with Taylor who is like what... 5'9? But I'm wondering what his pack gonna look like. Also the house on the rez and garage scene. Motorcycle scene up the mountain area. Seeing the fellas cliff diving. But I also can't wait for Mike being the third wheel looking up at Jacob. I got kinda mad when Edward didn't allow Bella to hug Jacob at the end when they wanted to hug each other comfort you know. But NNNOOO Edward kept pulling her away. Come on! Jacob calms down when he's around Bells. The cold ones and the pack are just natural born enemies. The transformation when Jacob fights his buddy flying into the air transforms super fast than the others. Jacobs a natural wolf.

Ok. I guess I'm on the Jacob team. lol. I hope they get the local rez guys and and ladies in the play. But a little make up on the chick with the half faced scars.

New Moon new details. Thanks to bubbly90.

New Moon New Details
Summit Entertainment has tentatively slated Nov. 20, 2009, as the release date for New Moon, the Twilight sequel, which means any director who signs on to replace Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has to be in Vancouver by Dec. 15 to begin 12 weeks of preproduction before a mid-March start date. Reports have speculated that Hardwicke was fired for being difficult on set, but sources close to her suggest Summit's aggressive production schedule turned her off. "She'd love to do the sequel if she could do it better than Twilight,” says one. “It became clear that Summit didn’t have those same priorities."

Who would you like to see playing the characters of the wolf pack?
we know that they have already jacob, sam and embry( and one thing is for sure none of them are tall or muscular) but you can say who you want for it
and how about the others?
I think Camilla Belle would be a great Leah and Sean Faris could be Quil

20 November next year? why they have to be so rushed? I don't mind if i have to wait a few months. I'm so worrying they will screw up New Moon.
New Moon's budget is only $50 million? sigh.. i have no words to say. Crazy Summit
i like Taylor because he seems shy and cute. But i don't really like him as Jacob. Jacob is supposed to be tall, big. But Taylor, he's so small and young in comapared with Rob. and Taylor with long hair looks so weird.

Bad news for those who like the kid who plays Jacob!

More Twilight Dramz!
Filed under: Film Flickers > Twilight

tl.jpg

Time to get hustling on the Twilight sequel, New Moon.

Part two of the franchise remains un-helmed since Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke's departure, but with a tentative release date set for November 20th, 2009, whoever ends up coming onto the project would have to be in Vancouver by December 15th to prepare for a mid-March production start date.

The mad rush to feed off of Twilight's franchise potential may only exacerbate some of the problems that have already arisen for New Moon.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the fledgling Summit studio does not want to re-hire "baby-faced" Taylor Lautner as Jacob. They don't think he has what it takes to play the werewolf love interest/lead in New Moon.

And, in a desperate attempt to keep the role, Lautner's agent has reached out to the special effects people who did Brad Pitt's new Benjamin Button film to see what wizardry they could do to bulk up Taylor.

Another obstacle is finding Native American actors to portray Jacob's werewolf clan, which was difficult in the first film. Lautner himself is not completely Native American.

With only a slightly increased budget of $50 million and breakout lead actors to pay more, shoots in Italy, and shiny new special effects, Summit is going to have to cut corners somewhere.

Rumor has it that Summit has approached Golden Compass' Chris Weitz to direct.

Inside sources say that Hardwicke would have loved to direct the Twilight sequel, if given the license to take her time to make it better than the first, but "it became clear that Summit didn’t have those same priorities."

It all sounds like Summit is setting up its Twilight franchise for a sloppy sequel in order to cash in as quickly as possible on its box-office-busting success.

Despite all the dramz, brutal production timeline, and potential for total crap filmmaking, Summit shouldn't have a problem nailing a director soon because, as an insider put it, "We are in a recession. It’s a hit franchise. Whoever steps into it is guaranteed a $100 million gross. Everyone wants this movie."

An executive at another studio added, "You’d have to have a very high standard for art, hate the movie business, and hate money to walk off this sequel."

So is Hardwicke an idiot or just trying to avoid an embarrassing cinematic failure?

OMG. i hope they won't replace Taylor Lautner.
Honestly, when the movie didn't come out yet and when they told me that Taylor's going to be
Jacob, i didn't really like it.
But now, he's kind of growing on me as Jacob and it will be weird seeing another Jacob for New Moon.

i'd throw myself to the sea
if god promised that you're inside.
when i saw you, i fell in love,
and you smiled because you knew.

... Aw man... this better be some amazing low budget film =(
I really hope they don't skimp out on the special effects.
Because if the effects look super-crappy ... I would probably end up laughing.

well, regardless of which, if New Moon turns out to be bad (which I don't mind since it won't affect my views on Rob, Stewart, and the book)
... I just hope they won't take it out on the next two books and end up canceling the idea of remaking the saga.

I think Taylor Lautner fits Jacob perfectly in Twilight...but New Moon is gonna be a problem for him. They have to find some ways to buff him up...there's still time right? He can start...i dunno lifting weights??...I can totally imagine him acting as Jacob, being all "BFF" with bella in the movie =D

^ Taylor has been working out more and trying to buff up
u can tell he's all excited about playing Jacob in New Moon
and for them to just yank it out from under him...

i have faith that he can build the muscles, all he needs is the height
and that can be done through movie magic. i just hope they don't get rid of him
he's grown on me as Jacob

also, in all honesty, i wouldn't mind Jacob being shorter than Edward as long as he is big compared to Bella
and with muscles he will look intimidating compared to Edward who is more lanky

Breaking News from EW.com: Chris Weitz Will Direct Twilight Sequel
Just got this straight from Entertainment Weekly.

Sources tell Entertainment Weekly that Summit Entertainment is about to hire Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass) as the shepherd for New Moon, the second installment of Stephenie Meyer's best-selling Twilight series. http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2008/12/its-official-ch.html

Weitz is best-known for his work with his brother Paul. The two directed and produced American Pie and then were nominated for an Academy Award for best screenplay for About a Boy, which they also co-directed. Chris' first solo directing gig, The Golden Compass, didn't do well stateside but was a hit internationally.

Twilight, directed by Catherine Hardwicke, has grossed more than $141 million so far, but Hardwicke had clashed with the studio during production. It was announced early this week that she would not be making New Moon. Weitz has a solid relationship with Summit's top brass; he's considered easy to work with and has experience with special effects. "He's the quality-of-life-choice," says one source. While Summit insists "we have not yet signed Chris Weitz to do New Moon," and Weitz's agency says no deal has been signed, other sources say the deal is imminent, and that Summit has stopped negotiations with other potential Moon directors. Summit had planned to announce this hiring decision on Sunday, Dec. 14, and could have Weitz in Vancouver, B.C. as early as Monday to start pre-production on the film.

Lautner out as Jacob and Michael Copon in?
Rumors are swirling that Michael Copon, most noted for his work in One Tree Hill, is the new Jacob Black. According to his seemingly official Facebook page, his status update is “Michael is the older Jacob Black”. Now, this could easily be doctored, but I think it might just be true. He would be a good fit–he really does look like a bigger, older Taylor Lautner. Copon is 6′1″ and 26 years old, Lautner is 5′6″ and 16 years old. You do the math. Check him out below in his role in Scorpion King: Rise of the Warrior:

credits lion_lamb

*sigh* He's model, he has look but Can he act? .
I feel bad for Taylor coz he seems to like this movie a lot. But he's really too small to play Jacob.
i don't think a petition could save Taylor. Look at what happened with Rob. 75000 ppl signed a petition in protest, Did Summit care?

I'm sorry but if Taylor is out of New Moon I'm NOT watching the movie.

there was REAL chemistry between Taylor and Kristen and I LOVED that in the movie, I even dare to say that their chemistry was better than Bella and Edward on screen!

I really hope that they don't change him to that Micheal Copon why...?
1) Jacob is NOT I repeat NOT supposed to get older... he is just supposed to get REALLY tall and REALLY buff.
2) I hate to say this but Micheal Copon can't act.. >< did anyone see him in One Tree Hill and ... Power Rangers?
3) This might be selfish of me to say... but... I already got used to the idea of Taylor as my Jacob... and he was SOO enthusiastic about being in the film I would really hate for him to go.
