The pre-production of NM started I think last month ( if I remember it right, they started 2nd wk of December).
Filming might start on February ( the earliest, info from Access Hollywood ) or Mid-March
Kstew mentioned in a radio interview that they'll go to Italy for the filming.
I hope they'll film it in Volterra.

But the new info is nothing surprising. I hope that the makers of the movie "alter" the original plot by showing more than just Bella's POV, like what Edward was up to after the Cullens left Forks... and nothing more extreme than that.

'New Moon' Altered for Robert Pattinson



The next installment to the vampire saga that is on every hot list is going to be a labor of love. Rumors are running rampant that Summit is concerned about the film’s success. While there is little to no doubt the film will do well, concerns are focused on the monumental following Robert Pattinson is pulling.

The “Twilight” sequel, “New Moon,” focuses on Bella Swan’s best friend, Jacob Black. There is drama in the casting department for Jacob, but beyond that there is a lack of the heartthrob
factor of Edward Cullen. Summit fears that the lack of Robert and his character in the film will leave the audience unhappy and won’t bring the numbers they are hoping for.

So spies are squealing that the plot and script are being altered to give Pattinson more screen time.

“They want to find a way to give Robert a bigger role than the book calls for without making major changes to the story line.”

Currently Taylor Lautner is still fighting for his role as Jacob, but Michael Copon is pulling ahead according to Life and Style.

I was hoping that they'd let Jacob shine in New Moon too. I understand that they want more Edward to draw in the audience and brings more to the theaters but seriously... New Moon is all about Jacob for most of the time. But if they do want more Robert, I think it'll be good to have things from his point of views too... like what he did when he was away from Bella and such... like how someone mention it above.

You can't deny that a HUGE segment of the Twilight fanbase is only in it for Robert Pattinson. Summit can't afford to piss off that whole group of consumers. We always have to think in monetary terms when we talk about Summit. Plus, they're not going to give Eclipse the greenlight if New Moon doesn't do (as) well.

I really hope Tayler Lautner gets to reprise his role as Jacob in NM. That kid will really make Jacob shine! I've seen Michael Copon act before and I can't really imagine him giving off the Jacob aura =/ I read in an interview where he said that he saw so much in Jacob that wasn't brought out and that he could've done better, but really, Jacob wasn't even really given any moments to shine in the movie.
I don't really mind if they give Edward more screentime than there was in the book, but I hope that it doesn't take away too much JacobxBella friendship moments, because that is one of the essential elements in NM.

I am glad that Summit is seriously considering adding more screen time for Robert Pattinson in New Moon without altering anything major from the book.

I agree that New Moon is more about Bella and Jacobs' relationship and how Bella is grieving about lost love and that should be the main storyline. What I don't want to see is Rob getting only 10 minutes of screen time in NM. If that's the case I will go see it only once and that's all Summit is going to get out of me...$10.

about them adding more screen time for R Patz, they prolly gonna focus about Edward and his tracking parts [though he was suck at it, like he admits it on the book ] and also his side of the story with the break up part.

I know that Robert is touted as the headliner (I ♥ Robert a lot) and it's true that most of the fanbase would revolve around him more than the other actors but I'm just saying, for those who already know the books, we want to highlight other major players from the series in the film.

i think they have to/want to squeeze robert into the film. why? letz be honest. most of the fan bases watch the movie because of robert. if robert only have like 10 mins of screen time it could mean bad news for the movie.

itz just me but
i think they should start the film by showing how sad belly is and she can then get some flash backs.
and in the front of the movie they can show how jacobs became her best friend.

and i think they should concentrate on bella edward reunion in italy LOL.

New 'New Moon' rumor!
Take it with a grain of salt, since the sources probably aren't that reliable.

Currently the New Moon camp has been casting for new characters. Rumor has it that Brenda Song and Vanessa Hudgens are being considered for the role of Leah Clearwater. Another related rumor is that Hudgens has already auditioned and pretty much clinched the role.
