'Twilight' Star Kristen Stewart Will Cliff-Dive In 'New Moon' � With CGI Help

BEVERLY HILLS, California � As originally imagined by author Stephenie Meyer, Bella Swan is a diamond in the rough. We've seen her trip and fall, we've seen her battle her own antisocial behavior and we've seen her fall heart-and-soul into a most unusual romance. But now, as filming for "New Moon" gets underway, director Chris Weitz is planning to show us Bella as we've never seen her before.

"I had to go in and do a head-scan the other day," Kristen Stewart revealed to MTV News over the weekend, discussing a recent Vancouver appointment to create a computer-generated doppelg�nger for a key "New Moon" scene.

The CGI-Bella will appear during a moment Twilighters have long dreamt of watching with their own eyes: the cliff-diving scene. In "New Moon," Bella becomes so distraught over her breakup with Edward that she dives off a precipice into the icy waters below, hearing his voice whenever she places herself in danger. Fans care so much about the pivotal "New Moon" moment that some have even created their own videos depicting how it should go down. Until now, the biggest question has been whether Stewart would do the stunt herself.

"Unfortunately, no," answered the actress, back in Los Angeles over the weekend to promote her film "Adventureland," in theaters April 3. "I get to almost jump, and then no. I'm not going to do the cliff-diving, unfortunately."

Instead Weitz � the effects whiz who brought "The Golden Compass" to life � has decided to keep his actress on dry land and call in the computers. "I have to hand it off to some computerized Bella," Stewart grinned.

Photos of the "Twilight" crew's recent trip to Vancouver have flooded the Internet, bringing an amazing amount of analysis to pics of the actors standing around between takes. In the mind of the 18-year-old actress, however, the only thing even more bizarre was holding an angst-ridden face while it was scanned repeatedly � to eventually be placed onto a CGI cliff-diver.

"I went to do a head-scan the other day and it had to be my 'determined' look," she laughed. "They were like, 'You're just about to jump, so [pretend] like you're about to scream or something.'"

Even during the scan, however, Stewart was determined to develop her character. "I was like, 'No, no, no. She's set [to do it]," the actress said on Bella's determination to make the jump.

But she was told there was no room for interpretation. "Every face [had to] look exactly the same," she explained. "So I was like, 'I can't move? But I have to make the [jumping off a cliff] expression?' "

Giving us a sample of her somber, close-mouthed face, Stewart said of the computer-generated jumper, "Bella is going to be jumping off the cliff going like [she's contemplating stuff]."

^ awww, only computerized? it would look so cool if it was real because even with all the high-tech, we can still see the difference between actual scene and aminated/computerized. damn that sucks, o well hope they will prove me wrong.

Reconstructing the Swan Residence

Ah I'm guessing since they relocated to Vancouver, they still want to keep those essential to the first film (which is always important). It's a smart idea but then again, I wish they sort of kept the notion of what the house was like in the book because I remember it was a little older looking and probably a little more shabbier than that home.

I don't like the idea of CGI use for her jumping off the cliff but for safety purposes, than it's smart. I gunning for the CGI to be better this time around based on budget and the fact the first still sucks terribly .

We don�t have confirmation on the ones in bold yet, so take it as rumor till further confirmed. We confirmed Tyson Houseman and Alex Meraz for sure earlier, and Bronson Pelletier seems to be confirmed.

Tinsel Korey has previous acting experience in film, but Kiowa Gordon seems to be a virtual unknown. From what I can find, he�s an 18 year old high school student that lives in Cave Creek, AZ (where Stephenie Meyer lives, coincidentally).

I already know about Chris's work since I'm a huge fan of his . I know he's worked with CGI before but it was a company New Line Cinema (company that distributes The Golden Compass) hired and I'm just not certain if they decided to keep the same one from the Twilight film.

I looked up everyone and it's very true to about finding Kiowa but congrats to the actors but I'm still sad about Krys and Soloman. I'm stoked for Alex Meraz because he's really hot and can't wait for the Paul & Jacob werewolf "play fight" (hopefully). Chaske seems like an interesting replacement but I'm still sad over Soloman since he was real committed (although I wasn't fond of him at first but seeing his dedication changed my mind). There were photos of the actors eating out with Taylor so I guess they are starting their bonding to appear more like brothers . Plus they weren't named in the first film so yea.

Bella and Jacob by the beach

Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart were in Tofino, British Columbia yesterday – where Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds were married but not at that resort – shooting around South Beach and the Wickaninnish Inn. More of that is happening today. Rachelle Lefevre is said to be around too. Cliff diving, near drowning, and rescue…or something.

So I guess they officially started filming NM already, they decided to film the most difficult scene first.

yup they're filming the cliff scene first. kristen stewart said that on e news at the adventureland premiere, something like yeah we're filming on the cliff, the fans of new moon should know what i'm talking about. so they're shooting her pretending to jump off, or about to? since they're doing cgi...or they could be filming her watching the other boys jump off before she goes to ride her bike.

The Tourism association of Montepulciano have just said to the staff of www.twilightersitalia.com that new moon will be shot there beginning on may 25 to may 30!

They are already organizing something in collaboration with the township so the poor actors will not be overwhelmed by the crazy italian fangirls

Rumor says that some of the shots, like the run across the square, will be filmed in Volterra though...
