if i withdraw a course while having an F and i retake the course at a different semester, does the new grade replace the WF?
im not doing well in a class and i have to withdraw the course so my gpa isnt messed up but i was wondering if the WF will stay on my transcript or will it eventually be replaced

unless the time for withdrawal is already passed, then you will have an F.
if not, and its before the period that withdrawal is passed, it will replace it with a 'W' a withdraw.
I am going to assume that it will be shown that you have withdrawed from a class on your records forever, even if you do take the course again.

usually, just like with a regularly repeated course, the former grade (in this case the W) is replaced by the grade you make when repeating the course.
BUT this may not apply at your university (some have weird policies). So I'd make a call to the registrars office or something just to make sure. They'll be able to tell you straight up.
