BIOGRAPHY
Who would have thought this quiet, pensive young man would turn out to be an angry rapper with razor-sharp insight into life and acidic criticism toward anything hypocritical. Having debuted as a child actor when he was only eight, usually very reticent actor Yang Dong-geun transformed into a hip hop warrior, releasing five quality albums so far. He imbued his albums with his unique style, which sets him apart from other angst-ridden rappers. The melodies are easy to follow and the lyrics have always rung true, despite its biting sarcasm. Through his five albums, Yang has shown that he is growing as a musician and a person by presenting a wide range of hip hop, including the gospel hip hop, and revealing his very philosophical and religious side.

We started freaking out...
We looked at him and was like: "Where have seen this guy?"
Then it came to us! 'I Am Sam'
We started laughing...not cuz his music was bad but cuz it was just hilarious...To see him transformed in 10 years was funny...especially his hair!

YDG's agency just released YDG's CF on military service.

i rememeber reading somewhere taht YDG did not anonounce when he enters the military, which most actors usually do to get public attention. Yeah, he's so humble.

BTW, I realised that I posted the wrong posting regarding his enlistment date. It should be 6 May 2008 . . . that means he's got another 9months or so to go.

Yang Dong-geun to make comeback in film "Grand Prix"

Korean singer and actor Yong Dong-geun [Asia Economic Daily]

Korean singer and actor Yang Dong-geun will be making his acting comeback through film "Grand Prix," according to the film's producer Sidus FNH on Monday.

Sidus FNH announced in a press release that Yang has been cast as the film's male lead which had originally been set to be played by Hallyu star Lee Jun-ki before he dropped out to go to the army last week as part of fulfilling Korea's mandatory military duties.

Yang, on the other hand, was recently discharged from the military after serving his two years in the force and has chosen "Prix" as his comeback project. "I really loved the script which tells a story of hope," the actor was quoted as saying. "I am looking forward to it because the atmosphere on set is really great too."

Yang, who starts shooting the pic later this month, will be portraying a jockey named Woo-seok who befriends and supports a female jockey, played by top Korean actress Kim Tae-hee. The plot revolves around the two's budding friendship as well as their challenge to compete in the grand prix with a new horse.

Yang, 30, debuted as a hip-hop singer and has released several hit albums including "Vol. 1 - Yangdonggeun a.k.a. Madman" (2001) and "Vol. 2 - Travel" (2003). Known for playing unconventional characters with his unique style of acting, Yang also starred in several notable dramas and films including "Wild Card" (2003), "Fighter in the Wind" (2004) and hit TV series "Ruler of Your Own World" (MBC, 2002), co-starring actress Lee Na-young.

"Grand Prix," which will wrap up shooting in July, is set for release around the Korean Thanksgiving holidays in September.

Actor and rapper Yang Dong Geun will be returning to the music scene after his long absence, his last album release was four long years ago!

Yang Dong Geun was discharged from the army back in March, and as a 10 year anniversary since his debut as a rapper, he will be releasing a best collection album called ‘BEST OF BEST‘. His title song will be called ‘Tanddi‘

On the 23rd, Yang Dong Geun appeared on KBS 2TV’s ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook‘ and performed his new title song and various hit songs like ‘Shoulder‘ and ‘Alley‘.

The title song ‘Tanddi’ received a warning from three broadcasting stations because of some lyrics that had to do with his experience in the army.

Yang Dong Geun’s entertainment company NH Media said, “We changed the parts that didn’t pass the broadcasting standards and he will be performing the revised song. However, the online and offline album will include the original unrevised song so the audience will be able to feel Yang Dong Geun’s pure and untouched hip hop.”

Yang Dong Geun revealed, “It’s been nearly 4 years since I had a comeback as a rapper on stage and I’m kind of nervous to stand in front of my fans again. I will perform for the fans that have waited for me for so long.”
