What do you think will happen during his term in society?
i, like most other Americans, hope for a great deal of change (last 8 years have been abysmal to say the least). however, i am a little skeptical about the amount and extent of 'change' obama will bring in his 4 years of presidency. he has a lot to handle right now (i.e. the economy ></the war/healthcare etcetc), but i think that america's international standing will improve during his term certainly (foreigners have already expressed great joy when he was elected after all...).

Do you envision the end of racism?

no. call me cynical, but i can't imagine how much it'll take to change people's mindsets and prejudices and racist opinions. besides, this election only directly applies to african-americans because obama is of that race (at least partially). what about racism against middle easterners/hispanics/asians/etcetcetc ? not that much about racism and people's attitudes will change as a result of this one election, sorry to say.

how do you think white people in the united states felt about obama's win?

lots of caucasians voted for obama, so a fair bunch did support him.

do you think views of african americans have or will change since obama has become president?
i think views of african-americans will change depending on what exactly obama does with his presidency. if he does bomb it...just hypothetically speaking...then of course the views will get more negative.

hope that helped.

I hope that he would be able to fix the budget/deficit issue. In addition, since the country is in a recession, I would think that he could find a way to get this country OUT of it.

Do you envision the end of racism?

No. Honestly, I wouldn`t be surprised if he got assassinated. I understand its the 21th century, but i don`t believe America is ready for a Black president. Its such a big change and such a short amount of time for American to adjust to it.

how do you think white people in the united states felt about obama's win?

Depends, people in the south are much more racist, so they probably didn`t want him to win.

do you think views of african americans have or will change since obama has become president?
I think african-americans will actually feel more self-righteous because they believe Obama, an african-american himself, can create good change within a country, but yet other white presidents cannot.

What do you think will happen during his term in society?

I have a moderately liberal leaning, so I'm going to be optimistic about Obama's term. He's probably not going to fix the economy as well as everyone will hope for. However, it will get fixed. He might be able to get our troops out of Iraq, but to be honest, how much can you do in one term? America has this tendency to oppose their president after a year, if nothing much has been done. We do have a Democratic Legislative/Executive Branch until the next off-year election, so maybe a bunch of policies will be passed quickly if the Judicial Branch doesn't intervene(but let's be serious, what can they do without the Executive Branch)? Obama seems to be appointing many of President Clinton's cabinet into his cabinet and America did prosper under the Clinton administration. President-elect Obama has a goal of creating 2.5m jobs by 2011, and I do believe he can. Roads, highways, schools, etc will provide people with jobs and maybe he can bring a little trust back into the government.

Do you envision the end of racism?

Nope. Its universal trait that humans tend to treat whatever different from them badly. The South may have been voting Republicans lately during presidential elections, but they're still voting for Democrat representatives in the local levels. I doubt they're still as racist if they vote for Democrats since it is the party of 'minorities, hard-working, and not as rich' as Republicans.

How do you think white people in the united states felt about obama's win?

Like the post above, African-Americans only make up about 14% of America's population, and they do have one of the lowest-voter turnouts(though more turned out to vote this election). People voted for change during this election, change from the Bush administration policies whether they were black, white, hispanic, or asian. Worldwide, I believe we can all agree that everyone is happy as long as Sarah Palin didn't become vice president/president of the Senate.

Do you think views of african americans have or will change since obama has become president?

Hopefully it'll bring higher voter turnout for the upcoming elections in the future and they probably are more proud people. As long as Obama doesn't screw up with his new policies, everything will be a-okay!
