I downloaded a trial version of Nero a while ago and today, I tried uninstalling it. It's not on my Add or Remove Programs list anymore but on my desktop, the icon is still there. If I try to delete that icon, a pop up shows up that says it's not uninstalled yet and that deleting my icon will delete just the icon, not the program. I'm so confused and I don't know how to fully get rid of this program. Also, all my music files are set on default to play with Nero ShowTime, but I want to change it back to Windoes Meda Player. Please help me with either or both of my problems! Thank you! <3

You can delete the Desktop icon without worries. That's just basically saying: "If you remove this icon, it does not count as removing the program, do you want to continue?". If you have already un-installed Nero from within Add / Remove (in Control Panel) then it should be removed. If you want to use Windows Media Player to play your files please take a look here.

Another way to remove it is to find in Start > All Programs > Nero ... and use the provided un-installer. Typically most programs will provide this or you'll be able to do it from Control Panel.

You can download it again, and run it.. it should start the uninstall or if not it should reinstall and put the option to uninstall back.

go to folder options, select the file types that you want associated with WMP and change them to WMP as default program
