I was watching a few clips when SHINee won some awards. And when they won, immediately Jonghyun, Key & Onew started to cry. they were a bit embarassed but i thought it was cute smile.gif . Other than that, ive actually did see a guy cry. My question is for both girls and guys: do you find a guy crying attractive or unattractive?(is it okay for a guy to cry?) I find it cute to shed a few tears but bawling is out of the question. For guys: did u ever cry in public or infront of ur girlfriend? btw crying when ur were like 5 yrs old doesnt count.[/

Getting an award in the entertainment business is a big deal, I could understand that Shinee would cry. I don't find it acceptable for a guy to cry because they're having girlfriend problems or something stupid like that.

haha! i think it's definitely fine for a guy to cry, although honestly, i wouldn't know how to comfort a guy without making him feel embarrassed or weird...
hmm, i don't find it cute or whatever in any way, maybe it's just me...but of course, girl or guy we all have feelings...so it's naturallllllll....biggrin.gif
if the guy cries for some weird reason, i'd find him weird...
...and just about where do you stand?

Who cares?

Crying is simply an action that is looked down upon as in the past it was a sign of 'weakness'. But back then no one really cared of the psychological factor that kind of is, well, important/essential.

Culture has indoctrinated to believe a guy crying especially is this big bad thing, but come on.

Well, I guess it depends on the situation. Men are humans too; they have emotions. One of my friends told me that he only cried when his GF of two years broke up with him and when his mom died and I thought that was acceptable. As per how attractive it is, I don't think it's attractive if the guy cries often, only in certain situations (death, etc). But maybe that's because I don't like ultra-sensitive emotional men. That's like being with a woman with male parts.... ):

huh, if it's a situation like that fine, it just means that they worked really hard and all their work is paid off here, probably really proud of themselves.
many artists are like that as well. Especially first timers like shinee. I mean they are quite new and it's prob the first time they won it.

But seriously, guys who cries..... gay... like guy above said lol...
Actually I'm not trying to blame you for making threads like these tongue.gif but usually guys thinks it's cute that they cry over a sad thing coz the girls said so, like you said tongue.gif
Like watching a drama, and they cry, WTH?? I mean, ok fine, probably the saddest Korean drama i've watched is East of Eden, I mean that's quite sad even in the beginning. My heart kind of feel miserable and sad, but I didn't cry, I find it really amazing if some guy cry watching a drama, that's just gay lol.

and of course it's okay to cry, if your parents are in an accident, or in a funeral, of course it's fine.
but it's not fine crying over small things...

Apparently the society has changed the meaning of everything. No, it is NOT gay. Real men expresses their feelings, and they do express their feelings in different forms and ways.

I should have been clearer.
I meant that a guy would still be attractive if he only cried over things that are overwhelmingly sad, such as a death in the family. Man crying over getting a B = not attractive. Even girls shouldn't cry over little things like that. ):

Hmm...if you're talking about winning a very prestigious award & crying, that's okay. It was a very big deal
for them, since they just debuted.

But if it's something like you fell down, scraped your knee, and then started to cry, then no, that's not okay
In my opinion, the times when a man should cry is during like a funeral, or some very sad event.
And if you're just the sensitive type, that's okay (;

I can't imagine crying being attractive in any instance.

As for dudes in paticular, i don't see a problem with it.

Just try to avoid crying all the time, about everything.

I don't find crying attractive/unattractive for either gender. I don't find sadness attractive, because it's just.. Saddening. This does not mean that I find it unattractive. I do, however, like a man who is sensitive and mature enough to show emotions. I find the cold, macho, G.I.Joe-wannabe,to cool for school, "I'm tha maaan" kind of men very unattractive..

There's a scene from ISWAK2 that struck a nerve in me on this matter. It's when she's standing outside his bedroom door bawling her eyes out, and she screams: "Why am I the only one crying?" tears.gif . I know exactly how that feels.

I guess it depends on the situation. I seen a guy cried before and he was someone important so it hurts to see them cry. I wouldn't like a guy to cry watching a sad love story because it's weird to me. I like guys who are strong and cry when it's really needed. I don't think crying is attractive, because the emotion and tears shown is very pessimistic isn't it?

It's okay for men to cry though, because they are human too.

Never Ever Give Up.

As a girl I'm pretty embarrassed myself when I cry in public, so I'm assuming it's the same thing for dem homehs from the other gender.

It's the embarrassment that decreases the attractiveness I think. Sometimes you just can't control it (cough run to a bathroom stall cough).

I agree completely with Peppermint- though. Crying isn't like BAM DAYMNNNN blush.gif or like urgh damn crazy.gif for guys.

However when there's a slight tearyness tears.gif which they're trying to cover up, pretty cool I have to admit. But full blown bawling...control for all genders in public please.

For all the girls though that can cry really pretty: work that nonsense. Cause I sure as heck can't. sweatingbullets.gif

You're a guy yourself. I'm assuming you're joking, right?

Note to you, Korean guys are usually emotional like that.

As far as this topic goes, crying as 'attractive' sounds weird, when I hear that I think if someone saw a guy crying and was turned on by it?
I don't know, it just sounds weird to me. But I can see how people would think its 'unattractive,' if their standards were strictly for 'manly' guys.

I don't know the word for it, but its good to see a guy cry every once in a while.
Its a bit hard to explain, but my boyfriend used to cry when we couldn't see each other for a really long time.
But now instead of crying together about something, its usually just me crying and he gets angry.
In short, I would rather us cry together then him sucking it up and being angry on his own.
