avoid sleeping on tables. you know, like in class and you put your head down. Especially for long periods.
I did that and I had the jaw thingy for about 2 weeks.
I used to have a big problem with that, and now i realize it's probably cause I kept sleeping at the tables.

The same thing happened to me less than a year ago and I still have it although not as bad. I'm pretty sure I have it because I grind my teeth a lot, especially at night when I have no control over it.

i thought i was the only one with this problem.
ive had this problem for a few months now, my father says its because i lack sleep, but i dont think so... even though i wake up early every morning....

but my jaw distracts me from eating, because whenever i chewed/eat something i would hear it and :@:@:@ ARGH its so annoying sleep.gif'
now i just play with it whenever im bored xD

Do you chew gum a lot? Because my jaw usually starts cracking after I chew gum for a long period of time. I doubt your jaw will break if it cracks a lot. Maybe try and massage your cheeks where your jaws are?

it always happen to me in the morning, like I could barely open my mouth for heaven's sake! It hurts like hell, had that for like two weeks and disappeared. I thought my jaw was shifting or something, since I don't wear retainer when I'm supposed to.

That used to happen to me, but it didn't hurt..the sound was just awkward and distracting. My dentist told me it happened because of either one of two things: gum chewing or teeth grinding..it was both for me : P NG..

I have this problem. Apparently for me, one side of my jaw is bigger than the other causing my jaw to constantly have a cracking or a popping sound. For a while, my jaw often got stuck and it hurt a lot. I had to limit my talking until it was back to the usual popping. The daily jaw clicking when I open my mouth doesn't hurt. It is just there.

A doctor told me that I need to get jaw surgery in order to fix the problem.

But probably, you should stop messing around by opening your mouth a lot. Try limiting the amount of time you open your mouth. Let is rest. It may probably stop and go away.

Last week, I had a presentation in front of the class and my jaw cracked while I was speaking, the pain was intense for an instant and it made a loud cracking sound... I don't know the gravity of this but some people suggested me to have surgery.
I'm not too sure if it is really needed since the surgery costs alot.

I have the same exact thing when I'm chewing a lot, like eating a bunch of chips. Not usually with regular food though, so it doesn't bother me often.
I never had it before I got braces, though, so I'm thinking it might be cause of that?

Do you have braces?
After I got braces my jaw started cracking, The braces ruined my jaw, or the orthodontist to be exact. Braces realigns teeth and messes with your jaw, and if your ortho doesn't know what he's doing then you can get this condition. When I told my ortho about this he was like 'it's nothing, just don't open your mouth big' like wtf? seriously? he messed up my jaw and had nothing to say about it. and it's not like you can keep your mouth shut your whole life. i don't even open my mouth that big when i eat, and even now when i do open my mouth big it feels so tight and constricted. this is on my left side only, although i don't think it bc that side is bigger? my right side is actually a bit longer. but now i can feel that it's more...like how when you crack your knuckles they get big? yeah..the corner of my jaw feels like its a bit bigger now. bleh...this happened to my friends boyfriend too, from braces, so he sued his ortho.

I think its because you grind your teeth when you're sleeping. My sister is in a similar situation. She grinds her teeth and night and when she opens and shuts her mouth it cracks. Her dentist recommended her to use her retainers or teeth guards.
