You know, the one at the top which seals the pencil so that the lead doesn't come out!

Personally, I never ever use it (unless I'm super desperate, like I forgot my eraser during an exam or something. But that's never happened) because:

1. The whole pen looks ugly/dirty after just one use
2. Once you use it too much, you can't pull it out! So it's hard to stick multiple leads in.

I'm very hardcore about my pencil erasers..I remember I got a new, really nice mechanical pencil..and the eraser was never used, but during a chem lab, I left it on my desk and came back to find it used by someone. I was so pissed off. Now, I just try to get the ones where there's a plastic cap on top of the eraser!

So how about you? Do you use that eraser on your mechanical pencil?

Nope, I use a separate eraser. I hate when the eraser on a mechanical pencil gets so short that you can't pull it out to put more lead in it.

Haha, I try not to. I hate it because it turns ugly.
Then I end up saying "screw it", I already used it.
Then it gets too small and impossible to pull out. xD

That's why I usually buy mechanical pencils at the same time I buy polymer erasers. They're better and that way I don't have to waste the one on my precious pencil. ^^

Everytime I borrow my sister's ones and forgot to not use it and use it, she's always screaming her pants off at me. For myself, I only use it because I'm too lazy to reach for my bigger eraser on the side of me.

haha really? i don't really care and just use it. when it gets small enough to just take off the eraser, i stop and use my eraser stick, but otherwise i use it.

LOL. Not really unless I really need to use it lol. When I buy new pens, I would never use the eraser cos I don't want to ruin it. If my friends use it, I go mad at them for using the eraser and tell them to ask me first. lmao!

i only use it when i cannot find my eraser or i really need to erase something and too lazy to find my eraser, so most of the time i don't use it
