Synopsis


The 48th NHK Taiga drama is Tenchijin, based on Hisaka Masashi's novel of the same name. The story centers on Kanetsugu Naoe, who lived from 1560 to 1620. He served as retainer for Uesugi Kenshin and Uesugi Kagekatsu, and became known as an excellent military leader.

just finished the first two episodes. I can hardly recognize Satoshi, he lost his baby fat on his face.. looks more manly than from what I remember him back in Lunch Queen and Orange Days. Anyway, I'm liking how it started so far.. but I always do in a jidaigeki. It's a matter of how to last all the way to the 47th episode... i wonder why only 47 instead of 49?

I'm so used to Abe playing funny in his dramas, that now, I can't take him seriously. But nevertheless, he looks great with his hair and mustache.

How important is Abe Hiroshi role in the show? Is he a major character or is his role more that of a guest role/cast?

i don't want to read too much of the synopsis in fear of spoiling the drama, but Abe plays Uesugi Kenshin. Episode 2 is set on 1573 and by ep 8, it seems he battles with Shibata Katsuie jumping to 1576. He passed away in 1578.. so I suppose Abe will most likely just be in the first quarter of the drama.

Tsumabuki along with Tokiwa Takako, playing his wife, and Kitamura Kazuki, acting as his lord (Uesugi Kagekatsu) and Kenshin's successor, will be dominating most of the episodes.
