Okay, have any of you girls or guys ever been stared @ in a good way? --- like the person staring at you is clearly showing interest in you, but are you afraid to make the move to approach him or her..or are you waiting for him/her to come over to you?

I've been in this situation so many times, but I always fail to make the first move and approach the girl who keeps looking at me. Since I'm socially awkward, it's a tough decision for me to walk over to the girl and say "hi" and start a conversation with her...

How do you go about such a situation?

Any tips or advice that worked for you?

Make up some excuse just to talk to her (I saw you in that human sexuality lecture, etc.)

Trip and hope she helps you up.
Or just...look back and hope she will make the move (she's probably thinking the same thing).

Or better yet...walk up and wonder why she is looking at you. Maybe there's something strange on you that you're unaware of?

That's what I do when I get a few glances from guys.
Of course, they won't come talk to me right away.
But because of that one smile, it gives them enough courage to make the move next time.

That's pretty funny, there's no 'set' way to do it.

Once I get to know a girl well, like, we'll have a laugh and then I'll give her a hug or something, and if we look into each others' eyes and you can just so tell if she wants it or not.

I get this a lot, as I am a foreigner in Japan, lol.. Some of the times, it's the insulting "eeek a weird white person!" (yes, a white foreigner, at that) kind of looks, but I do sometimes get cute guys staring at me. As I am socially awkward, too, most of the time I do nothing Sometimes, though, when I feel up for it, I wave or smile at the guy.
A few days ago, I was going home from Shibuya (I was alone) and there were three guys staring at me. They were trying to get my attention so bad.. and I was trying to not laugh, so bad! Being socially awkward, part II.

But, yeah, I guess smiling back at the person is the best way, also looking up from time to time (but not the whole time) to see if he/she is still looking. If you don't end up starting a conversation, at least you'll be left with a warm feeling, because someone smiled when seeing you.
