POST-HARDCORE

I'm guessing this will be a slow thread considering it's on a korean pop site,
but is anyone a fan of this genre and others similar to it?
And I'm not expert at categorizing bands, but here is a list of a few bands to get this thread going:

Chiodos
From First to Last
Saosin
Breathe Carolina
Emery
Funeral For a Friend
Silverstein
Horse The Band
Drop Dead, Gorgeous
Alesana
Coheed and Cambria
Devil Wears Prada
I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN
Bullet For My Valentine
A Day To Remember

what artists and songs do you like?
why do you like it?
what got you into post-hardcore in the first place?
what song do you have on repeat at the moment?

and if you're going to bash,
at least have some reasonable justification - don't say "Because they look like girls!"
I can think of a few kpop artists who could fit that statement easily.

Oh, cool, somebody else into my kind of music.

You listen to some of the bands I listen to.

Chiodos - The Words 'Best Friend' Becomes Redefined
From First to Last - Note to Self
Saosin - I Can Tell There Was an Accident
Breathe Carolina - The Birds and the Bees
Emery - So Cold I Can See My Breath
Silverstein - My Heroine
Coheed and Cambria - Welcome Home
Devil Wears Prada - Still Fly

The reason I got into Rock, Emo, Hardcore, Post-Hardcore, Screamo, etc etc because I heard some rock songs on videos. Then I just started listening to rock and such and then I just started getting into what I listen to now nowadays. But I'm really lazy to find new music nowadays. (x

Yeah, I like some post-hardcore, but to tell the truth, the only band I totally know is Coheed and Cambria. I haven't been keeping up with bands and such for perhaps three years D:

Anyone heard of Enter Shikari? Good British post-hardcore, with a genre of their own "nintendocore" its pretty sick.
"...People live their lives bound by what they accept as correct and true. That's how they define "reality."
But what does it mean to be "correct" or "true?"
Merely vague concepts...their "reality" may all be a mirage.
Can we consider them to simply be living in their own world, shaped by their beliefs?"

Let's see..

A Skylit Drive
Sky Eats Airplane
I KILLED THE PROM QUEEN
Drop Dead, Gorgeous

oh god. i love these bands. i was pretty obsessed with this type of genre before my kpop obsession.
i don't really listen to it much anymore. i should get updated with my songs. xD

artists & songs i really liked //
★ bullet for my valentine >> "just another star" or
    ★ chimaira >> "the flame"
★ chiodos >> "baby you wouldn't last a minute on the creek" or "the word 'best friend' becomes redefined"
★ a day to remember >> "the plot to bomb the panhandle"
★ drop dead, gorgeous >> "dressed for friend requests"
★ emery >> "so cold i could see my breath"
★ enter shikari >> "sorry you're not a winner" or "okay, time for plan b"
★ saosin >> "you're not alone" (not as hardcore as others, but i like it. :3)
★ senses fail >> too many. i love them.
    ★ silverstein >> "my heroine"

i heard a senses fail cd came out recently, but i haven't checked it out. D:
and i've been wanting to check out fftl, but i keep forgetting. xD

and i got into this music pretty much because i started listening to linkin park.
they're not really emo // hardcore like these bands, but they're the more heavy rock that i first started to listen to.
i really love them. they mean the world to me. <3

Enter Shikari is pretty good. I like the song Sorry You're Not a Winner.

Linkin Park is... Ugh. I used to listen to them, but then now, they are just overrated.

I can't really tell from the different genres. Hardcore, metal, rock, etc etc. tongue.gif

I really like post-hardcore...but I like none of the bands mentioned above haha. My favorites are At The Drive-In (definitely one of the greatest bands I've ever heard), The Blood Brothers, Cap'n Jazz, Bear vs Shark, Drive Like Jehu, and a couple of other old bands. I like Alexisonfire's first album, but their other albums are too mainstream sounding for my taste. I'd have to say I'm more of a fan of actual hardcore and screamo.

I like listening to anything fast and loud when I'm either pissed, trying to ignore someone, playing a game, or biking. Post-hardcore just fits that. A Day to Remember is a great band for that.

Erhm it was HORSE the band who made up a genre of their own which they called "nintendocore", not Enter Shikari wink.gif.

But I really like post-hardcore, my favourite band being Enter Shikari, their songs are very creative, and they also give awesome performances.

Other bands I really like: HORSE the band, Escape the Fate , Greeley Estates, I Am Ghost, Eyes Set to Kill, Black Veil Brides, His Statue Falls, Deaf Havana, UnderOath, A Skylit Drive and eatmewhileimhot!.

They fact you think Linkin Park is post-hardcore too tells me that XD.. I'm not that good with genres either, but come on, you should hear clearly that Linkin Park isn't post-hardcore (no offense but imo LP doesn't sound anything like post-hardcore).

At the Drive-In is def. one of my favorite bands! And I dig a few bands you mentioned, while the others I'm still checking out.

I like post-hardcore, but not a fan of most of the bands mentioned throughout the thread. Some post-hardcore I like: Fugazi and Q and not U.
