so i want to buy a usb 2.0 expansion card
i was wondering if theres an advantage of buying a pcie x1 card over a pci card for it
would the speed of the pcie make a difference?
thanks!!

no difference just depends on how much space you have between the other components on your motherboard too close and it might generate excess heat or in the way of cables

For usb, the bandwidth is more than enough with either. However, pci throughput is shared among the entire pci bus (all your pci ports) so depending on what other pci devices you have (graphics card, etc), pci may have an impact vs pcie (not just to your usb card but your other pci cards as well). Also pcie is serial and full duplex and can sustain multiple channels of communications between devices and your computer simultaneously. Whereas with pci, its parallel and different communication between devices need to wait for each other when going in different directions. Depending on how many usb devices you plan on daisy chaining off this card and what type of activity you plan to use this card for, it could matter noticeably in terms of performance. The cost should be roughly the same, so stick to the pcie one if you can.
