I've looked around && haven't seen another topic for us young mother's, so I figured I'd start one. I guess I'll tell you a little about myself && my little one. My name is Sara and I am nineteen years old. My daughter is 14 & a half months old, her name is Makenzie Kaelyn. I got pregnant when I was 17, was pregnant during my 18th birthday and had her four months after that, on September 24th. Being Makenzie's Mommy is the BEST job that I have ever had! Watching her grown, learn to sit up, crawl, stand, walk, the first tooth, the first word....it all has been very amazing to watch. I was there for every first and I am totally loving being a stay at home Mom!
Of course, Makenzie & I have it pretty good though. Her Daddy (my boyfriend of 4 yrs) is hard at work every day to take care of us. And I love him for that b/c he does it b/c he want's to, not b/c he feels that he has to! Have ya'll ever heard that song by T.I. "You Can Have Whatever You Like"? That's our song, it is sooo true. Anything I ask for, I get!

Ehhh, but the not so good side; I don't ask for much often! We are STRUGGELING! While I love being a stay at home Mommy, the real reason I don't work is b/c we can't afford the daycare. Daycare if like $140 a week here in Georgia, wether you go one day or all five. That is about 70% of the paycheck I would recieve if I was working. And Travis doesn't make that much either. Being a Mom is great, having a family is great, but it is SOOOO freakin' hard! We hardly have enough money for gas & grocerys after we pay bills, buy diapers & wipes and all of that good stuff. There have been nights when we've gone without eating so we could buy something for Makenzie to eat with the $4 we've had in our pockets!

But enough of that, here are some pictures of my Angel! To save on loading time, images are clickable thumbnails, so click to enlarge.

Makenzie & her cousin Logan.

Ahh, her little outfit was so cute she had on baby highheels too. LOL. like a 1/2 inch is all though.

^ I know of some other members that have children too~~
I'm not a young mother myself, but my best friend currently gave birth to a son. I know it must be an amazing experience. I can't say she's struggling due to the support she gets from her family and boyfriend's family, but I know if it were me in her shoes I wouldn't be able to handle it. She's very fortunate her mother is financially able, and that she has enough family members that are willing to babysit so that she and her boyfriend can continue to further their education.

I'm not sure if I want children, but if I do have them I'd prefer it to be in at least 7 or 8 years..(I'll soon be 20)

i just want to say that, i admire the young mums.
they work hard, they look after their child/children, and love them
unconditionally. happy.gif for me they are my heroes.. because
nothing can compare to the love a mother has for their child, they
sacrifice alot so the child can eat, go to school, etc...

one of my closest friends is a young mum, and she's an angel,
seriously, her child is everything to her, and her child loves her back,
she struggles at times, coz it's just her and her child, but she gets through
everything, she's strong, and yer just awesum, i help out with baby sitting,
and finances, to me she is my big sister basically... happy.gif

i totally hate how people look down upon young mums.
yes so they may be young, at least they kept the child,
and they love the child so much.

and your daughter Makenzie Kaelyn is absolutely gorgeous!

Well, it's just... How young is young, in your opinion? I think I'm considered as a fairly young mom, but I'm not a teenage mom.. tongue.gif
I had my daughter at 21, now I'm 23.

agree. agree. but...

I really have nothing against young moms who will take on the responsibility of having a child. As long as the young mom accept the responsibility, I really have nothing against her. (As long as the going to be mom is happy and okay with the situation, I really don't have much of a say)
In your[the topic started] case, since I don't know you, but I know that you're happy ('cause you stated so) I have nothing against you.

I'm going to be bias and say, I get a tad disappointed when I see young teenagers(as in younger than I am or under 16) getting pregnant though. You see, in my culture, when a girl gets pregnant and the parents know, she is usually force to marry the father of the baby...it is like they don't understand the meaning behind "safe sex". And because of this notion of my culture forcing mom-to-be into marriage, I get a tad disappointed whenever I hear girls I know pregnant or getting marry.

i actually had great plans for my future. maybe 'had' is the wrong word to use? sadly, i am not able to finish highschool. i was 17 when i got pregnant, i left school for a while but intended on going back. but here in GA you are kicked out of high school when you reach age 20. and since i never made it back, and i will be 20 in may i am forced to get my G.E.D. buuuuut, that too cost so much money. $94 to take the test, and that's assuming you pass all 4 sections. you fail a section, you pay and take it over again. and $94 just isn't something that we have laying around right now. i'd love one day to be able to complete the test and enroll into our local tech college and work on becoming a vet.

Being a parent takes a very strong person. And no offence to you at all, but I am totally 100% AGAINST abortion. I feel that if a person isn't ready to own up and take care of a child, then you shouldn't have sex. And if you choose to have sex, protect yourself. Abortion is murder. I've read so many things on abotion.

One case; a nurse my aunt know's was sent to an abotion clinic to work for a few months. she said this doctor performed an abortion on a women who was 6 months along....it's called a partial birth delivery. the doctor delivers the baby up until it's head, then right below the head/where the neck starts, a pair of sissor like tools are inserted into the back of the babys head, they twist and open a hole, then suction the babys brains out.

i've also been told stories of abortions of women who were just a few weeks, saline is incerted into the womb and the baby is seem on a somagram machine pulling aways....the saline burns them to death.

did you know that at just a few weeks your baby already has a heartbeat? or that once their earbuds are developed around 16 weeks, they can hear you when you talk to them?

being able to hold makenzie in my arms now, being able to love her. knowing that no matter what, if everyone in the world was to turn their backs on me, i would still have this tiny little body of perfection to love me, to think i was the BEST mommy in the world. i wouldn't change that for anything.

so just because i am having a hard time as far as money goes, doesn't mean you will. and it doesn't mean that i will forever. lets say, you a totally broke for the first 6 months of your babys life and you are constantly thinking of how you should have given him/her up, then all of a sudden you get a great job, you boyfriend/husband gets a promotion and you are living great.....would you feelt guilty for wanting to give your away?

if you are dead set on not keeping the angel you have created, go with adoption. there are so many couples out there who try and try to get pregnant and can't. there is someone to love to baby if you choose you can't.

Yes, one person working is really hard, but I understand what you said.
It is never easy...money is really difficult.

I was 17 when I got pregnant, was pregnant during my 18th birthday. Do you consider that young? I do. I will be 20 in May and my daughter is almost 15 months old....i still consider that young. I am currently 19, so I am still a teenage Mom. And in my opinion, I take better care of my child at 19 then some women I know do at 30.
I AM VERY PROUD TO BE MAMA TO MAKENZIE!
