Okay. I have pretty long nails....and my binder slipped outta my fingers when I attempted to grab it...the nail cracked halfway through the middle of the nail.
I attempted to cut the nail off from the other end...where the crack didn't reach (From the natural nail bed of course)....
It seriously hurts, cause the other part is lifting up...forcing the crack to become bigger.
I have a band-aid over it right now.
Should I go to the doctor about it??? Or should I just rip off it??
It seriously hurts right now..but I have to volunteer later and....yeah. I'm also too scared to tell my mom about this. She will NEVER let me have long nails again. Should I get help from her instead??
I could let it grow out....but that will take about 3 weeks.....and my band aid isn't metal, so the nail has a chance of falling off if it's touched. O____O.

just leave it, a new nail will grow under it and the old one will fall off painlessly.

Hmm... I'm pretty sure there's a nail polish out there that strengthens the nail; makes it tougher. I don't know about your second response about fancy metal finger casts. Never heard of those before in my life o_o But I really hope your nail gets better soon

Oh! i know where you can get those fancy finger cast thingys.
when my dad sprained his wrist, he went to CVS to look for a wrist brace.
And when we got to the brace section place, there was this finger brace thing
that i saw my friends wear when they hurt their finger or sprained it, and i totally wanted to buy one so that i could skip PE class by pretending i sprained my finger. =[ my dad didn't let me though...lol
yeah, but all in short, they sell 'em at CVS Pharmacy. they could be at Wallgreens or other pharmacy market places but i know for sure that they are at CVS.

Well, you can like TEMPORARILY repair it with nail glue for now and just leave it to grow out and then cut it off. And if the nail glue isn't enough, there's always wrapping it with the bandage. But, the nail glue should hold the cracks together so you wouldn't accidentally hit the crack against something and make it worse. xDD

i dont know if this is the best way, but its what i do...
right where the crack is, super glue it. make sure the glue gets in the crack, not just sit on top.

^ I second this. Iīve done it and it worked for me. I donīt know how bad your nail crack is though... mine was like two thirds along the nail bed, so doing this was the best option. Of course, I also kept it short during the time it was cracked (I clipped it every few days) to avoid any other accidents.
If you donīt want to tell your mom, just clip all your nails short, superglue that one and wait a bit until itīs dried properly, then file the glue on top a bit and add a coat of transparent nailpolish to that one nail to make its surface even. Once itīs dry, paint all your nails the same darker color, so that the glue or crack wonīt show (add 2-3 coats if necessary). Short nails in dark colors also look good, so you will still have nice nails, even if theyīre short. Once the damaged nail has grown, you can let them all grow again

that's nothing compare to me. I lost my entire toe nail (the big toe) after it was run over by one one those car lifter thing to let you hang stuff in the ceiling. odd thing was it hurt like h*ll but it didn't bleed at all.
There's nothing to worry about. yes it hurts because there is nothing protection your skin now but it will grow back. My took 11 months but since your's is only half a nail and on your finger it shouldn't take no more than 3 months. lol

That always happens to me. Meh, I should start cutting my nails hahaha. But yeah, I always break my nails when I work, and yes it HURTS. If I were you, I would cut my nail short, and just put a bandaid over it for now (when you go volunteer)...and just wait til it grows out.
Breaking a nail is nothing, so it does NOT require a doctor. Goodluck
