I'm half filipino but I do look full, and no im not being cocky. While my sis looks like my other half(not gonna say) too much info. me & her dont really look alike. alot of ppl dont really kno we're sisters until we tell them

Does anyone have trouble or had trouble in the past of being half asian. for example say ur half asian and white: to asians ur not asian enough and to white, ur too asian . Tell ur stories!
& tell us which half is more prevalent in ur looks.
I just wanna see how many half asians there are on soompi, and to half asians on soompi, do u look more asian than ur other half, full asian or NOT at all

Well, for me, I'm black and filipino (and some spanish and native-american i think?), so cause of my skin, i look black, but cause of my face, i look asian.? I mean, yea lol . and i have a brother, and he doesn't look like me, well, he kinda does. people know we are related, but i mean we have the same features (like i said above)

Ahh yes, one of my new friends is like that. She's actually really mixed. She's Hawaiian, Japanese, English, German, French. I don't exactly remember, but she looks really Asian, so I would have never thought that was she was mixed.

OMG really??? the same with me! woot! well, the mixed part lol. people know i look mixed. LOLZ just that my skin is a bit darker of course lols.

I'm half East Indian (Punjabi) and half Korean, i look more Korean but my skin is kinda dark and my hair is a natural coconut brown and not really thick, and REALLY curly

okay well this "half" thing is pretty vague in my opinion.
Some people claim they are half chinese half (put country here)
but yet what they mean, their mom/dad's ancestor is chinese.

When People say half, I'm talking about one of their parents being really really chinese. As in life in china, born there, not mix blooded.

if you're talking about your parents being, let's say your dad live and born in Vietnam, but ancestor is chinese, so they carry these chinese blood. I don't count that as a half. I never think of that as half chinese half vietnamese.
If you say that's half, then what do you call the ones that are actually half? certainly both are different.

anyways, not meaning to flame or bashing any certain race, It's just my opinion coz I think the word "half" is kind of vague now.

but i think if you're asian-ish but got the look of half asian and white, wow, that's really good.
I mean, I'm a guy, but look at Dennis oh and that guy in the japanese drama Hana kimi I think.

When people talk about mixed ethnicity - they mean mixed ethnicity. Ethnicity and nationality are two different things. If a Chinese person is born in France (for example) he can call himself French, but he does not become Causasian. He is still Asian.

I kind of understand what you mean, but my situation is a bit different. Technically, I am not half asian, but I look like one. My mom was born in a 100% caucasian family, but for some reason she looks asian or half asian (people have different opinion about it) . I don't know how it has happened, she is definitely not adopted. It is obvious that she had some asian ancestry God knows how many generations ago. It is quite possible that one of her grandfathers was asian, because no one has ever seen him. So, as a result I don't look completely caucasian although I am one. I never had problems because of this in my home country, but whenever I go abroad people start to question my ethnicity. It used to piss me off a lot. Most of people are stereotyping Russian as being blond and blue-eyed which is not true. Russia is muliethinic due to its history and geography, so there are actually quite a lot of Russians who have some Asian facial features. Anyway, I've learned how to deal with it. If people as me why do I look asian I say that I am Genghis Khan's descendant . But when I need to state my ethnicity on a fill-in form I put down Caucasian/White.

Have been often confused for being Spanish, Greek, Hawaiian and so on.

When people find out I'm half asian.. they always assumed I'm chinese over Filipino and half Australian, since i live in Australia

I'm part japanese, part norwegian/lappish. In Japan they tell me I look foreign because my eyes are mixed brown/green, and my hair is brown. Also, I have double eyelids, which apparantly is a very big deal. In every other aspect, I do look most asian.

In Norway, I sometimes get comments on how well I speak norwegian. Lol. Well, yeah.. Having a norwegian mom will kinda give you that skill, don't you think?

Well the problem with being an half-asian (Japanese/British-descent) looking pretty much Caucasian

- Asians think I'm white so most of the time I have to tell them... plus bursting randomly out in Japanese makes me look weird, cus very few people speak Japanese, especially in Florida
- Majority of Caucasians know I have some Asian blood in me, because apparently i have a 'slant' in my eyes, but I'm pretty sure it's cus I have a kinda "chinky" sounding voice sometimes. =_=

I wish I just looked mixed. =[ Oh well, it's not a big deal.

I look more Caucasian but I look a lot like my mom who's Korean
then my brother definitely looks more asian but looks like my dad who's Caucasian. and my brother and I don't look alike at all.

It's so weird/interesting to see who looks like who and what kind of features a mixed child gets.

Mm...I know a guy who's half white, half Japanese. It came out as a bit of a weird mix of features on him hahaha He's got tanner skin with "asian" shaped eyes but they're bigger. His hair's kinda like brownish? His sister on the other hand looks a lot more white. Her hair's lighter too. She says that she's the whitest looking asian ever xD

There are some people that are just plain weird
If a person likes a particular thing from a certain country then they want to be that race

I duno anyone personally who is half-asian etc but I've met a couple...they've got asian features on their face. That's about it.
