(EDINBURGH, Scotland) The latest magical tome by J.K. Rowling has started to fly off bookstore shelves.

Rowling was launching "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" on Thursday with a tea party for 200 school children at the National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh, where she lives.

The author is donating royalties from the book to a charity, which hopes it will raise millions to help vulnerable children.

Recession-hit booksellers hope the book — a collection of five fables mentioned in Rowling's saga about boy wizard Harry Potter — will give them a festive boost

"We expect it to come straight in at No. 1 and is very likely to be our No. 1 book this Christmas," said Jon Howells of Britain's Waterstone's book store chain. "It's in with a fighting chance of being the best-selling book of the year, even though there are only a few weeks to go.

"This is J.K. Rowling. None of the usual rules apply," he said.

I really enjoyed Dumbledore's notes (especially his footnotes).

My favourite is probably The Fountain Of Fair Fortune, although The Warlock's Hairy Heart is also really good.

I soooooo want it! But my mum got the super swanky edition for Christmas. If it were any other case I would have gotten it on the first day. It's the first Harry Potter book since Goblet of Fire that I didn't get on the first day... (Including the 2 Comic Relief textbooks!) I feel like such a bad fan.

But just the pictures of the luscious nicely bound one makes me happy I'm waiting. ^^

Okay.. To those who have read this.. Is this book for children? Or is it as interesting to kids as to adults? I've seen some reviews and they all said it's written in a very simple way with big letters because it's meant to be read to the children.

I want to buy this for my sister's 18th birthday (She is a major Harry Potter fan). And she is clearly not a child anymore xD. I'm afraid she won't like it.

i was just flipping through my copy (i haven't had the time or the will to read it sadly) and there was a somewhat graphic drawing in there, i thought it was a children's story lol. but jkr can draw, i can see that here. i really want the special edition on amazon but can't justify $100 on that. ugh.

If you read the seventh book, there's reference to the Tales of Beedle the Bard. I don't want to spoil anything so I say no more, but no, Harry Potter himself is not in the book, but it is about the wizarding world.

BTW I got my copy today but I haven't read it yet. XD Waiting for the right time to savor it all.
