Ok! So I just got surgery to remove 5 of my teeth, 4 of them are my wisdom teeth, and the other tooth is infected and dead so they had to take it out too. But yeah... The dentist had to cut my gum open to get my wisdom teeth out because they're not even out yet. So now I have stitches in my mouth and it's annoying. BUT!!! What annoys me most is that my cheeks and the lining of my jawline are swelling up! I did what the dentist told me to, which is to use an ice pack. So far, it's not really helping, and to top it off, it's cold. My mom made me rub hard boil eggs on my face to reduce the swelling, but I don't see a difference in it either. Any more suggestions besides ice and eggs?

just keep icing it. It'll take a while for the swelling to go down. i know it happens to me as well and it took me about a week and a half for the swelling to cool down. It wasn't pretty but hey i couldn't do much about it and just keep icing it. good luck

icing and ibuprofen are your best bet. That's what I always do with my injuries.
Don't ice for more than 30mins at a time. Usually less than 30 mins and you're cool.
You can do it a couple times a day, it might make it go down faster.

back to basics - RICE
Rest - doesnt do anything in this case
Ice - 20 mins on and then 20 mins off. best if you have a moist lining in between the ice/cold pack and your skin such as a wet towel. OR keep on icing it until it feels cold then take it off.
the cold will slow bloodflow to the swelled area like all liquids, and because the body's natural reaction to constrict blood vessels in cold areas to prevent heat loss.
Compression - not feasible option in this case
Elevation - well i'm sure your head is above your heart most of the time so this is all good to begin with.
other than ice there really isnt anything you can do. take this as an excuse to eat more icecream lol.
just wait it out. you're complaining that its cold, try that wet towel trick and see if you feel better with it.
