I need the testimonial from YOU (the viewer, audience, fan, and consumer) about K-Pop's (or Asian Pop's) affect on your life.
Thanks all!

in bad ways: people think im a loser, stupid fans make me angry, i have no money.
so yeah. kpop effected my life in many good ways. 1 w00d st1ll typ3 lyk d1s 1f 1 d1dn+ h@v3 kp0p. or rather soompi. thank god it kinda saved my life. (i remember the first time i joined forums. i was so immature and got bashed, which made me change a whole lot.) O_O
bad part is that my friends didnt have the same interests, so it was hard to talk about things. D: also, they would get annoyed at me if i spazzed too much. x_x

There's not much negative affects except for, being hooked onto Korean music only, friends calling me a Korean freak lol, but I have influenced some of my friends into K-pop and they like it

The bad part for me is that my friends sometimes can't relate to me anymore and we disagree on more things now like with Britney Spears--most of them hate her but I just don't. Another thing I guess is that it disconnected me from American music. like totally..

the only negatives is that, my friends and i have nothing in common. while i obsess with the kpop industry, they obsess with people i don't know or don't care about. they probably feel the same way about me. either way, i have soompi and online friends i can spazz with

I do, however, on occasion listen to J-pop, which I find entertaining.
I reject your reality and substitue my own

The only negagtive thing about it is that because it takes up so much of my time that I tend to neglect a lot of my school work. My family also think im totally weird and my mom always asks "so you want to be korean now or what?". Oh and I also have NO IDEA What's going on in the american world. My brothers gf was talking about britney spears and I didn't even know about her newest songs x.x

as you can imagine, as a filipino girl (taller, darker, bigger), i suffered massive identity issues in high school.
it's stupid to listen to others about beauty and mini cooper but when all the girls around you are 4-5 inches shorter, and hella skinny, and HELLA pale and it goes for the celebrities you're watching too, like more extreme than american celebrities,
how can one not have those issues?
on the upside, kpop = soompi = some of my really good irl friends (upgraded to irl because of LA soompi meets) and my best friend/roommate ^D^ and the chance to meet people from all over the world (srsly lol hyukmin from norway)
but i mean, for years i hated myself. i said i didn't. but i was straightening my hair, using whitening products, learning how to read and speak korean, trying to dress "fob," denying my filipino culture... trying so hard to be something i am not.
so i guess it's been fun, i still listen to kpop, but i do feel that it had a major negative impact earlier in my life.

making me try to understand the true meanings of the lyrics behind songs and know how there is much more talent and passion in the entertainment industry, instead of just trying to make it and the part of survival. just knowing how us, the fans can change an entertainer's career, by supporting them.

i'd have to say that it is actually ruining me in terms of schoolwork
i get so caught in videos and stuff that i procrastinate waaaaaaaaaay too much in hw and studying for tests and i can't help it because kpop is so addicting and obsessing over bands is so much fun!!
but im really happy i got into it because it has changed me in a good way since now i appreciate music oh so much more
so i guess there's a good side to kpop and a bad side

i guess it wasnt entirely kpop music's fault, but more me becoming way too obsessed with it. i can finally say im out of that mindset since senior year of HS, kpop isnt a huge part of my life but i still listen to kpop once in a while. as i got further and further away from kpop, i've diversified my music tastes and seriously wondered why i didnt take interest in american or french music in the first place! cause i can friggin understand what they're saying which makes the music much, much more special.
kpop has definitely made some positive impacts on me though. i've come to appreciate extremely good vocal skill in singers, learned about a different culture and how the music industry works over there compared to north america(lol antifans much? crazy).

I think I like Korean music more, because they tend to carry more meaning other than cars, sex, and money if you understand. Then again it's hard to find songs that aren't soley about love or anything without subtly racist undertones. So there are pro's and cons of both sides.
I really need to diversify my music library. ^.^ too bad the computer crashed.
and like gjs223, Korean popular culture has kind of slowly invaded my life and I started to make a conscious effort to learn the language: reading, writing, and speaking. I read newspapers and stuff now too. lol.
고사언어만 배우면 원어민 처럼 우리말을 마음것 말하고, 쓰고, 읽을 수있거든요. ^.^
I also tend to listen to music when I'm emotionally spent==>catharsis or when I'm doing busywork, or when I need to do work but people are bothering me. It's an antisocial mechanism.
