I can't seem to connect to the router I have with my laptop. I have my laptop right next to it and it won't work..sorta.

My brother's computer has a wireless card in it too and his work..I don't get why my laptop is any diff.

I haven't done anything different to my internet or router so I dunno whats up.

When I view my Wireless Network connection..it lists all the nearby wireless connections..mine is linksys..when I try to connect..it would take a long time..then the box would pop up and say "CONNECTED!" but the description in the other box says "Not Connected"..O_o I can get on the internet for like 5 mins and then it'll just disconnect...sometimes I'm not that lucky lol.

That was confusing to explain so here's a scrnshot..

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me...

I see good reception on your end. Im suprised to see so many wireless points around you.

What that implies is that you have some security blocking you.

Probability has it that your WEP key got changed and yours wasnt changed with it. Other thing might be the MAC filtering is enabled and its locking you out.

You can try the simple unplug router, plug it back in and wait until it comes back to life method. It has been the cause of many of my problems...

WEP key was never changed because I'm the only one in my house that knows how to change it and such.

I dunno what MAC filtering is and I already tried to unplug the router..I even turned off my modem for awhile..replugged everything..sigh

Can you jsut re enter it on your laptop? Heck, delete the profile for your linksys on your laptop and recreate it.

Sometimes that seems like its the only way.

Possibly unsecure your network temporarily and then resecure it after you manage to conect.
