I neeed your opinion! Should I purchase a canon powershot SD1100 IS (which is only $170) or splurge on a DSLR camera?

For DSLR, i really want the canon rebel xsi..but I don't really want to leave my bank account cryinng tongue.gif
what would be another good d-slr that is more affordable?

but I guess the question still comes down to..digital camera or digital slr camera?

The fact that you even have this question points you towards digital point and shoot cameras. Or maybe something higher end like PowerShot G10 or S5 IS.

if it was me, i would rather invest on a dslr.
on a long run, it would have more use than a new digicam. also im into arts and stuff so that's why i picked that (:
lol. but it's up to you. don't break your bank account though tongue.gif

Do you have a practical purpose for wanting an DSLR? The SD1100IS is completely point and shoot, which says to me that you don't necessarily value manual features... so why buy more camera than you actually need?

if you have no need for a DSLR then dont buy one, it's not worth it unless you're a serious photographer.

If you want a camera with the similar functions to a DSLR, but aren't serious about spending a LOT of cash on more than just the body (Your main investment with a DSLR will be lenses), then just buy a bridge camera. They're similar in appearance to smaller DSLRs, have comparable optical zoom and much more customizable options when comparing with point and shoot cameras. The Canon PowerShot series are pretty good.
