Um, I think maybe the drowsiness is normal (since it is Nyquil and it makes you sleepy).
The chest thing...I'm not sure.
If you read the little sheet of paper about the side effects that they have in the box, it should tell you if it's normal.
Well, if it's on the list of side effects then it's "normal" but if it's not, go ask the pharmacist (or doctor).
Have you taken Nyquil before?

Nyquil and other cold remedies don't help the cold go by faster. These make you feel better temporarily, but the problem is that you will be sick longer and using these drugs longer.
The best way to beat the cold is drink plenty of liquids and NO cold medicines.
Nyquil has lots of side effects, but thats the tradeoff when you have a drug that has a drowsiness effect (so that you can sleep). If your chest tightens up, you probably should stop using this drug, because the tightening of the chest can sometimes indicated serious health issues, such as a heart attack or even a pulmonary emboli (a blood clot in your lungs), which can occur at any age. If you keep taking these drugs how can you tell if its a seperate condition or something that is being caused by the drug? You can't differentiate.

There should be a 800 number on the back of the Nyquil where the ingredients are. Call them. If your chest is tightening up you might be allergic to one of the ingredients in there.

i've been taking nyquil everynight and i think i have gained a tolerance to it. i don't get drowsy anymore.. but u definitely shouldnt be feeling chest pains. i would suggest not taking it anymore. im substituting cough drops for nyquil instead. and i didn't know about what kelvin6 said.. if that's the case i want to lay off cough medicines.

I don't know about the chest thing, but Nyquil is for taking at night, before you sleep. There's a different Nyquil for daytime usage, I think it's called Dayquil. So yeah, you should probably be getting sleepy, but not chest pains 0.o
And isn't Nyquil the nastiest tasting thing ever? Ew, the aftertaste is the worst.
