It really depends on what phone you have. Try to find whether your phone is GSM or CMDA
also there's a sub forum for cellphones and a FAQ in there, you should check it out

Yes, it is possible to use korean phones in the US. I have done so many times, but be aware that phones in korea use a different type of chip in order for phones in korea to gain service from the reception towers in the country. When it comes to "tech" korea and japan are on another level so they use a diff. type of chip. Same thing goes for the US a different type of chip. In order to use the korean phone you need to buy the US chip which you can acquire anywhere online just do a google search, but the only problem is some of the cheaper korean phones the US chips wont fit. So make sure you do you research before you spend the money. Hope that helps you out.

Yes indeed you can use Korean phones in America. Ditto to heartnet. Try to figure out if the Korean-based phone is GSM or CDMA.
Korean phones from like SKY are CDMA..and from what I hear, you CAN use them in America but it must be used with Verizon network. If you wanna get SKY phones or some of the other Korean phones, Hankook Phones in CA is probably your best bet for Korean phones unless there's another place to get them o_o
