Sleep How do you make time for it?

I always end up sleeping at around 3 am
no, not because I'm on soompi, I just decided to make this thread because I NEED TO KNOW: how do you get enough sleep? (8 hours)
In order for me to get 8 hours I would have to sleep at like 11 pm.. which is super early for me.
homework really blows.

So, how do YOU do it?

I sleep at around 3 am and wake up around 8 am. I have severe insomnia and its difficult for me to sleep during the time I want to so I end up staying late until I drift off to sleep. Right now I'm taking sleeping pills (last resort since I hate waking up tired and not feeling refresh) and they seem to be helping since I get drowsy after 1 hour or so but I wouldn't recommend taking sleeping pills unless you're suffering from severe insomnia.

I rarely get 8 hours on a school night. I make up for it on the weekends, or at least I try to.

I completely understand you though. Homework's ... a female dog most of the time and I don't think a lot of people understand the stress of it. And most of the time... it's busy work. >O!

But usually, and most recently, I've been coming home and napping and then waking up and doing my homework until school starts... which isn't a good thing because I'm tired by the time I go to school. Thank goodness for coffee x)

But if homework's a big issue, try getting some done at lunch. That's what I've been attempting to do, but since the holiday's are coming up, there hasn't been a lot of work for me.

Other times, I sleep for like 17 hours on the weekends and 'charge up' so I don't need that much sleep on the weekdays LOL. But I don't think you should follow that advice. =X

But honestly... I don't understand how people manage to get the whole 8 hours of sleep, etc. With jobs, school, and other extracurricular, I don't think sleep's supposed to be scheduled in.

So sorry for not being a big help... but hey I'm right there with you haha.

Once you get SO tired that you start to malfunction, you'll sleep no matter what! Lol..you know those people who can sleep on a bus during rush hour morning..like that haha. In order for me to get a 8 hours of sleep I have to go to bed at 11pm, but it's easier for me because once i'm done work, there's no extra work after hours. I do remember being in school though- i'm not THAT old.

Try to fit in homework during break periods, do it while you eat lunch at the same time, ect. Multitask throughout the day. That way, when you get home you will have less to do. Hey, if it can cut homework time even by 30 minutes, thats 30 minutes more sleep. That, and once you set a time for yourself and tell yourself you HAVE to be in bed by a certain time, you'll be surprised how you adjust your schedule to make it to bed in time.

I also did homework during class- you know, everyone has one class they don't really pay attention in- I had a few of those haha. WIth the exception of math and foreign language, I could listen and do something else at the same time and still get both things done-learn new lesson and do homework.

plan ahead always helps to get 8+ hours
if you got school at 8am next day, then go to bed at 12

sounds simple, but it works

For me, ever since junior high, i always get my 8 hours of sleep because i'm more of a morning person. For some reason, my body always responds to wake up at between 5am to 8am especially if i sleep around 3-5am in the morning. So in order for me to get my 8 hours of sleep i would try to sleep early 8-11pm. When i say force myself, i mean get to bed close my eyes and begin to drift off. Usually i read something boring or watch t.v. till i fall asleep as my t.v. automatically turns off within 30mins.

Also, when i have TONS of homework, i always work on them during breaks, lunch time, during class (if we are done with our class assignments of course) so i won't have to do them at home. When i get home and i have left over homework, i just work on them until i'm done. I put on music to relax my mind, put the t.v. on or the radio. I don't watch the t.v. but more listen to it hehehe. Once i'm finish i usually study for about 1-3 hours, go watch t.v. or online. By that time it'll be around 8pm and i could either go to sleep or just finish my free time then before i know it its 10pm and i go to bed. I recycle all over again.

This even work when i was taking extra curricular activities and i always end up in bed around 10pm.

My body got used to it to the point that i'm not a night person and i can't stay up that late anymore heheh x.

i remember even in 5th grade, i would sleep at 6pm and wake up at 3am to finish my homework then get ready to go to school xD.

But anways

Seriously anybody can do it if you know how to manage your time and schedule.

NOTE: for those people who love to cram or procrastinate, don't even do it its not worth. Not only you won't get enough sleep, but probably won't be able to remember all the stuff you studied unless you do an all nighter (rolls eyes)

but i get over 8 hours on the weekend lol
i wish i did T^T
i eat dinner really late...like at 8-9pm cuz me and my family has to wait until EVERYONE is home..then we can eat >.>

during winter break from schoool,im gonna get more hours haha

I can never sleep for 8 hours straight...I almost always wake up once or twice within the 4th-6th hour...then I go back to sleep if I'm bored. tongue.gif

When I was in high school though, I would sleep at 11 and wake up at 3am. I wonder if that affected my development/health lol. tongue.gif

During finals week I averaged 2-3 hours of sleep per day, but on regular days I get 6-8 or even more.

Just manage your time better. If you have free time during the day in which you're not doing anything, just get some work done and try to contain the ADD xD. That way you don't have to burn the midnight oil doing homework.

well, sometimes, I just put my head down and voila! sleep comes to me!

lol but seriously, I barely slept for the 2-3 weeks during finals. but now that I'm on winter break and I was sick for the past 3 days I slept sound like a newborn. (I mean really, I slept for 2 days straight only to wake up to go to the bathroom and eat little food)

You sleep RIGHT after school when you get home then wake up and do hw. Lol. I get home around 3? I go to sleep at like 3.30... and I wake up at 12AM to do homework. When you feel like you don't have time, you rush and do your homework faster than just sitting there and doing it slowly. >.> That's how I do it. Just don't procrastinate and try to do hw at lunch and in other classes or something. But yea, you kinda have to dedicate your whole life to sleeping and school if you do my schedule. >.>

Hey I'm with you, I have insomnia....I sleep around 2-3am too. There's no such thing as an 8 hours for me.....I just can't sleep for more than 6 hours each night......unless I pulled an all nighter or something.....Sometimes I ended up sleeping at 4:30'ish doing absolutely nothing....and still get up around 10am....I take sleeping pills sometimes if I really want to sleep earlier than 2am.....

i only sleep 4~6 hours on weekdays.

keke, i get ~14 hours on weekends though. just make up for it.

I usually sleep past 12 too (maybe around 1 or 2AM) and if I don't have school or plans the next day, I wake up around noon (meaning that's when I'm fully charged again, lol). I have a younger friend who's in his last year of highschool and he usually sleeps around my bedtime too, but a while back he was sick so he started sleeping at 10PM. Then, he just got used to it after a few nights. And when he wakes up in the morning, he's totally re-energized :x

I do the same thing kcy does though. I sleep less on weekdays and make up for it on the weekends, lol.

I try to kick myself into a habit of sleeping about 1 or 2 hours earlier.
It actually helps me, cause then I would be falling asleep at school everyday.

I get 7 hours of sleep at the most on school days.
For weekends I get like 14 hours of sleep.
