sooo....i'm sure you guys have tried it. the asian popcorn chicken that comes all nice and crispy in a bag and you eat it with some looong toothpicks...hehehe.

well...i live in a place that doesn't have many asian places around and i really miss eating it. so i was wondering if anybody had the recipe for the ASIAN POPCORN CHICKEN. (the american one is just not the same)

i work at tapioca and i never really looked into the recipe.. lol
from what i seen, they used plenty of garlic and some special sauce and then cover it with flour.. @_@

hmm .. at the place where i used to worked at.. it was seasoned chopped chicken...then rolled in some kind of flour(cornstarch or tapiocastarch.. i dont remember).. then deep fried.. and then some chili powder on the outside

I've only tried pop corn chicken at Lolicup and it's not even all that good.

Forsure there's garlic and chili powder. Black pepper? And def MSG.

I used to work at Tap Ex, and I believe we marinated chopped up pieces of chicken THIGHS in garlic powder/soy sauce/curry powder.
Make sure you get thighs, those cook more tender, have a bit more fat in them, thus flavoring.

Dip in flour before frying the first time, take out, egg wash it and dip in another layer of flour, and then refry.

So you fry it twice :X

Season with pepper salt/chili powder.

It seems like they use tapioca starch or potato starch..I'm not sure about the seasoning though

I love eating it. its decilious as anything but the only time i ever get to eat it is when i go to taiwan. I've never seen it avail here in syd aust.

All failed places use MSG cause it's a cheap alternative.
