hello people~well since there is no baek ji young thread (well, at least i think there isn't hehe) i've decided to make an official baek ji young thread for all the salsa/latin dance lovers out there~ baek ji young i think is my most favorite female singer^^...she was really popular back in the day, but ever since the video scandal, her popularity has been going down, but i still support her as a singer, and i hope everyone will do the same...oh and please no bashing!! hehe enjoy~^^*

�춤추지 않는 그녀들이 과연 성공할까?�

댄스퀸 보아와 백지영이 �무(無) 댄스� 전략을 택했다. 보아는 지난 18일 일본에서 발매한 18번째 싱글 �Everlasting� 활동에서 춤을 추지 않고 있다. 보아의 히트곡 �발렌티� �메리 크리� 등을 작곡한 카즈히로 하라가 만든 �Everlasting�은 댄스가 아닌 발라드곡. 보아는 현재 일본에서 댄스 없이 노래만 부른다.

올해로 만 스무살을 맞는 보아가 자신의 트레이드 마크인 강렬한 댄스 대신 차분한 분위기의 발라드곡을 통해 이미지 변신을 꾀하겠다는 전략이다. 댄스 가수 이미지를 넘어서 보컬리스트로 변신하고자 하는 것이다.

보아의 변신은 일단 성공적이다. �Everlasting�은 일본 발매 당일 오리콘 데일리 차트 3위에 올랐고, 똑 같은 노래를 한국어로 부른 한국판 �Everlasting�을 담은 한국의 4번째 싱글 �Everlasting�도 음반판매집계 사이트 한터 주간 차트에 23일 현재 5위에 올라 있다.

보아의 소속사 SM엔터테인먼트는 보아가 추후 국내에서 발매할 앨범에서도 댄스 대신 발라드를 택할 지에 대해서는 아직 정하지 않았지만, 보아의 이번 변신이 성공적이라 평가하고 있다.

보아에 이어 �무댄스� 전략을 택한 주인공은 백지영이다. 이름 앞에 �섹시댄스�를 닉네임처럼 달고 다녔던 백지영 역시 댄스를 과감히 버리기로 했다. 오는 3월께 5집을 발매하는 백지영은 발라드를 타이틀로 내세우기로 했다.

백지영이 부르는 발라드는 히트메이커 박근태가 작곡한 것으로 호소력 짙은 백지영의 목소리 매력을 새롭게 느낄 수 있는 곡이다. 백지영은 섹시코드로 일관한 자신의 이미지를 쇄신하고 가수로서 새롭게 자리매김하겠다는 의욕을 앞세워 춤을 추지 않기로 결단을 내렸다.

섹시댄스 대신 발라드로 선회한 이들의 변신이 가요계에 활력을 불러 일으킬 지 기대를 모은다.

Boa-Baek Ji Young 'No Dancing Queen?'

sorry about the late post, i just happen to come across this article. It says that "will the female stars succeed without dancing?" Dancing Queen Boa and Baek Ji Young will go into ballad music. Boa performed her 18th japanese hit single 'Everlasting' on the 18th, without dancing. But instead sang a slow, ballad song. Boa's hit songs 'valenti', and 'meri-chri' were composed by Kasihero, who also composed 'Everlasting'. Boa is currently in Japan, performing without any dancing. Boa who is turning 20 this year has passed the "dancing" phase, instead will change her image by singing slower, ballad songs. Boa's japanese single 'everlasting' has hit the charts at #3 and her korean single 'everlasting' has hit #5. Boa wants to succeed in singing ballad songs rather than dance songs, to have a more mature look.
Besides Boa, another singer has comeback with a new image, and that is Baek Ji Young. Baek Ji Young was known to be the ' sexy dancing queen', but she decided to change that. Baek Ji Young will comeback with her 5th album in March 2006, containing ballad songs.

Instead of being named as 'sexy dancers' these top stars have changed thier image, with a more calm look, singing ballad songs. This big change, will it fire up the music industry?, is the question.

다음달 새 앨범을 발표하며 가요계에 복귀하는 백지영(28)이 발라드 가수로의 이미지 변신을 노리고 있다. 2004년 8월 앨범을 발표한 이후 1년6개월여만의 컴백을 앞둔 백지영은 타이틀 곡으로 발라드를 선택했다. 성시경의 �우린 제법 잘 어울려요�, SG워너비의 �Timeless� 등 많은 히트곡을 발표한 실력파 작곡가 박근태의 발라드 �사랑안해�를 타이틀곡으로 정한 것.

최근 워너 뮤직 코리아에 둥지를 튼 백지영이 발라드로 타이틀곡을 정한 것은 �섹시�로 정형화된 이미지를 바꾸기 위한 것이라는 게 소속사측의 설명이다. �Dash�,�Sad Salsa �등 라틴 댄스곡을 히트시키며 가요계에서 입지를 굳힌 만큼 �백지영=섹시 댄스 가수�라는 이미지가 강했지만 이번에는 진정한 실력파 가수의 면모를 보이겠다는 다짐이다.

�사랑안해�가 발라드를 선호하는 팬들로부터 이미 긍정적인 평가를 받은 것도 타이틀곡 선정에 한몫을 했다. 당초 이번 앨범은 지난해 연말 출시될 예정이었고 발매를 앞두고 온라인 음악 사이트 등을 통해 �사랑안해�가 먼저 공개됐다. 앨범 후반 작업이 당초 예상보다 늦어지며 발매가 다음달로 연기됐지만 �사랑안해�를 미리 접한 팬들이 온라인 게시판에 �이번 노래 좋다�, �듣기 좋은 발라드곡이다�라는 등의 글을 올리며 호의적인 반응을 보인 것이 백지영의 변신에 힘을 실어줬다.

Baek Ji Young (28), who's new album is to release next month, has come back with a 'ballad image'. After performing her last album on August of 2004 and after a year and a half, baek ji young has chosen ballad for her come back. Composer Park Geun Tek, who composed hit songs, such as, Sung Shi Kyung's 'We Match Very Well', and SG Wannabe's 'Timeless' has chosen baek ji young's 'I'm not going to Love'.
Baek Ji Young has chosen ballad songs, in order to change her image, from 'sexy' to a more 'mature' look. Her hit songs, such as, 'Dash' and 'Sad Salsa' and other latin songs have made her known as the 'sexy dancing queen', but will come back with a more soothing, mature look.
'I'm Not Going To Love' was picked as the title song in order to enhance fans and get a good rating. This album was supposed to be out last year, but instead the title song was posted up on Orion's music site, first. Although the album was postponed numerous times, fans on Orion's forums have already made good comments about the song, such as, "this one's good", or "it's nice to hear this song"...These replies have been a good start and also a great help in Baek Ji Young's image change.

Baek Ji Young-'A Ballad Singer'



Singer Baek Ji Young is at last making a come back. She will make her come back on 'Show! Music Tank' on the 24th at 9:30 pm in DooSan Tower, located in Seoul after 3 long years. After her last appearance on stage, back in 2003 with her 4th album, BJY's upcoming 5th album will be a drastic change. Her drastic image change, from dancing to ballad, BJY is hoping to show a more soft, and mature look with her new song, 'I'm Not Going To Love'. Besides Baek Ji Young's come back, singer Park Hye Kyung will also be performing her come back stage on KM 'Show! Music Tank', after a year and a half.... Baek Ji Young's 5th album will be released on March 30th.

The korean pop singer has finally come back with her 5th album, 'Smile Again'. Baek Ji Young's 5th album was released today, (yesterday, in Korea) She has come back with her refreshing, husky voice. Her album both contains pop and ballad songs. Her comeback stage will not only make her fans happy but she will be proud as well. BJY has been working on this album for over 2 years, recording her songs in the studio. Recording about 1000 songs, shortening the amount to 50, and finally choosing 13 songs for her album. BJY recorded various genes, from dance and ballad to hip-hop. The first track, "I Will Not Love" is a smooth balld song, which BJY sings with her soft, husky voice.
