I've always had problems with cravings, until I realized the problem weren't cravings at all! I just needed something to chew on 24/7. Buy lots and lots of gum, cause it'll distract you from eating. But then again, I'm not totally sure it'll have an effect for you.
It may work for you. Who knows?

drink alot of water...if you want to chew on something eat gum or fruit..fruit is good for your health and is low in calories...divide your big meals into more smaller meals....Like if your used to eat 4 times a day..eat 6 times a day...just with smaller portions...and ofcourse go excercise! It's better then sitting around and be soo bored that you want to eat caus you've nothing to do...Good luck!

when you're eating, eat generously. It'll help. and if you do eat a craving, eat until your satisfied.
Did you just start your diet? If so, the cravings will eventually lessen a bit.

whenever I get a craving for something and I know that I'm not really hungry but still want it, what I do is picture the food I'm craving for and imagine something gross about it. Like worms or bugs crawling all over it and what not. You end up losing your craving for it. It works most of the time.

Like what a lot of people have already stated, drinking water helps a bunch. But TOO much of anything is bad for you, and a lot of water intake can be bad. To even it out, you need to exercise, lol. So when you exercise, you tend to get cravings, and then you drink water and you're fine smile.gif

drink water
chew gum
BUT if you really crave it, eat it (just not a huge portion)! if you cant have it and crave it, you tend to give in and eat ALOT of it.

Chew your food slowly, and instead of the typical 3 meals a day, eat something like 5 meals a day but with smaller portions. That way you can help satisfy your cravings but without taking in more calories than you want.

Chew on gum.

Drink a lot of water. If you still have the craving after that then replace it with veggies or fruits.

I heard from a friend that if you wait it out for like ten to fifteen minutes, it'll just go away.
She said it was like a mental thing. Like you're really craving for some chocolate, just relax, and wait about ten minutes and that craving should fade off.

It worked for me sometimes. It's hard, but if you want that weight gone, try it!

i was told to just drink water. but i read on this other thread on this forum that you could use your index finger and rub for 10 seconds on the area between your nose and upper lip. apparently, it fools your brain into thinking it's full.

it doesn't work for me but it might for you?
i don't know i think it's a psychological thing
everything starts with a step.

occupy your time with something time consuming to prevent such cravings! go out for a walk and visit teh bookstore (just dont bring any money for food!) go for a walk when you feel like eating, or as other said, simply relax.

i recommend not reading cookbooks :x

Okay, I found a way to stop cravings pretty quickly. It works really well at least for me.

What I did is get myself some Lindt 86% dark chocolate (the higher you go, I bet this would be even more effective but I'm too chicken to try 99%). Anyways, when you start craving something really bad, just break off 1/2 a square or so of this chocolate, and pop it in your mouth.

I know, you're probably going: how am I supposed to lose weight by eating CHOCOLATE??? But honestly, this is the only thing that has worked really well for me so far. It's so rich and bitter that you really don't want to eat anything for hours after you eat the chocolate. And eating 1/2 of a square of super dark chocolate once a day or so is not bad at all.
