I have HP Pavillion dv9000, Windows Vista Home Premium. I've had it for a little over a year now. I'm using my brother's computer to type this since his internet works... lol. >.^a

Okay, new problem, lol. So sorry~ ;____;a
So, something happened to my laptop. I had to do system restore because it recommended me to do so, and my screen is fixed, yay! I can see it in normal mode now. But, I can't use the internet now! >=[

I know my internet is connected, but it seems like I'm not allowed to use it. ==''
When the laptop is done loading when I turn it on, a pop-up appears:
Family Safety
The Family Safety service has been disabled. Please ask the administrator for this computer to enable it. Until that's done, you will not be able to browse the Internet.

It's so stupid; my laptop IS connected to the internet, but when I open Mozilla or IE, it doesn't load.

Mozilla says:
Connection Interrupted:
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.

I remember uninstalling Family Safety before the screen blanked.

Anyhoo, my question is, how do I get Mozilla or IE connected? My internet connection is connected cuz it's blue on the screen and on the switch thingy. Do I have to install Family Safety again to be able to use the internet? ==''

Please help, thanks! =D

================================================================================

PREVIOUS PROBLEM:
CODE
So today, I was taking my laptop back to my room but I accidentally pushed the screen down so the laptop was closed
while it was still on. When I set it back down, I opened it and moved to mouse to bring it back to life.

But, the screen is all black; I can't see anything at all. I know my screen isn't broken though because I'm using my laptop right now,
and I can see perfectly fine, because I'm on Safe Mode with Networking.

However, when I restart the computer and let it load normally, I see my wallpaper and everything; it seems to be fine, but within
a second or two, the screen turns black!

The blue lights above the keyboard (volume and play/pause, rewind, power, etc. buttons) are on so I know the computer is on.

I've restarted many times but it's still black, so I have to go to Safe Mode if I want to use it.

I dunno if this is relevant, but I've installed Kaspersky Antivirus 2009 but I don't think it's like, broken or anything cuz I've shut
down and turned it on today and it was fine. The black screen thing just started when the screen was pushed down. ><

I don't know if maybe that's why my screen is being like that? Cuz I've done it several times before in the past, lol.

So yeah, if anyone knows what's wrong/what I should do, please let me know ASAP! =D
I don't want to have to keep using Safe Mode because everything's so big and it's a bit painful on my eyes, lol. xD

Thanks so much!<3
Problem fixed! ^^v

ok well since it still works fine im thinking that you havent damaged it but somehow damged the driver in xp. SO
if this doesnt work you might wanna contact hp and get them to sort it out (u know warrentys and all)
but 1st things 1st, im thinking your grphx drivers is stuffed so download the nvidia graphics driver herehp driver select page
and then (keep in mind i dont use vista here) you need to un-install your current drivers, im not sure how to do it with vista so sorry no walkthru.. please feel free to google it. after that just run the nvidia graphics drivers that u downloaded and should all work fine were hoping ^^.

goodluck ^^

[EDIT]: u might not actuall need to uninstall those drivers , just run the nvida download drivers and it should over write them, if not find a way to un-install them.

I kind of have the same problem as you (same laptop as well, about a year and a half old)...I just closed my laptop and went off for about 45 minutes to do some random tasks, and when I came back & opened it, the screen was blank even though the laptop was still on.

At first I thought it wouldn't come out of hibernation, so I tried restarting the computer. But when it restarted (if it even did restart), the display was still blank, and to top it off, my laptop would turn on and off by itself every 5 seconds, even if I didn't touch anything. When it's not off, the blue buttons are lit up, but they don't respond at all. I don't hear the usual start up sounds/humming that my laptop makes, as well =(

I know for sure it didn't overheat or anything because I had barely been using it...My computer was acting up a little before it crashed (was extremely laggy after I downloaded some videos, but returned to normal speed after I deleted the videos..?) and the hinge to the display is kind of messed up (although I doubt that would affect the display that much). Can anyone suggest a solution before I fork out $1000 for a new laptop? sad.gif

actually it might be the hinge... laptops usually have the wiring between the screen and the motherboard inside the left hinge...
only suggestion is call up the warranty if u still have it.

Thanks so much for the help! I tried to install it, but, I couldn't cuz I was in Safe Mode, and it doesn't allow it. ==''

But, problem solved! Had to do System Restore, lol.

Thanks again! m(_ _)m

^ I'm not sure if I did; most likely not cuz when I was trying to uninstall it, something happened which caused my screen to be black in safe mode. It's fixed now cuz of System Restore but this new problem came up. ==''

Do I have to install Family Safety again then re-install it to have ti work again? Or should I just install Family Safety and leave it there? .____.

I'd say install and uninstall it again. Something may have happened which made it not uninstall properly.
If it had uninstalled properly you most likely wouldn't be getting an indication of Family Safety even being on there (except those log files or whatnot some programs don't delete on uninstall)

Install it again, see if the internet works, and if so, then uninstall it again (if you want to), and try loading a page again.

First make sure that it IS indeed Family Safety that's causing the problems. Uninstall it completely, and you might want to get Tweaknow's Regcleaner to clean it from your computer. Restart, and see if you have any issues. If it works fine and you can surf the internet, etc, than you know it's Family Safety. Either try to reinstall it clean, or not use it.
