hey all,
i'm planning on getting headphones and it would be nice if i could get some recommendations on good ones to buy

the qualities i am looking for are:

-$250 is my budget
-over the ears, (like dj headphones, no plug in ear)
-no sound leakage
-noise-cancellation (block out external noise)
-comfortable fit around the ears
-works well with iPods
-portable
-light
-it would be great if they physically looked good, too

thanks in advance!! biggrin.gif

ok in headphones a great brand to go for are sennheisers, they are around that price range, they are what the dj's use, well atleast to most of my knowledge. when looking for headphones look at the hearing frequency the human hearing range is 20hz-20,000hz(22,000hz if ur under 10 years old) but yea i have seen some pairs of headphones that range from 20hz-26,000 which is pointless but cool none the less.
anyways not exactly my area but whenever it comes to audio a brand i usually steer away from are behringer, they are usually poorly constructed, good headphones but poorly made.

I personally use the Sony MDR-V6. I bought some quality pads to replace the OEM since they provide better isolation and comfort.

when you say noise-cancellation, do you actually mean it? or are you thinking about NOISE ISOLATION.

a few things.

1. brands are honestly irrelevant. every brand has fail duds, so look out for people who go SENNHEISER SENNHEISER or something similar.
2. You'd best go with a CLOSED/CIRCUMAURAL set of headphones. they have little to no sound leakage, and isolate external noise best.
3. Comfort is up to individual choice. Be warned though, because a pair of headphones feel comfy at first, after a few hours of wear that may change drastically O.O
4.works well with ipods? everything works with ipods these days =P
5. portable and light are up to individual choice, and so are looks

gluck!

You would be best off avoiding anything that has active noise-cancellation, as in general you're going to have to compromise sound quality. Too be honest with you, I don't think there are any good sounding closed circumaural headphones that meet all your criteria. Do you really need a set of headphones? Is there a reason why you don't want set of IEMs instead? Or are you trying to be trendy by walking around the streets with a pair of headphones tongue.gif

Also don't buy headphones based on specs :x, just ignore that they even exist as they are irrelevant most of the time.
