hi! i just came back from hongkong and guess what? i bought a new phone!
its unlocked and any network's simcard can be used...i tried!
the story is....
i used to be on the vodaphone network and last year i changed to the "three" network.
since i wanted to use the same number as the one i had on the vodafone network, i did something that helped me ...shall we say override the sim card so that the number that was originally on the "three" sim card was deleted and replaced with the number on the vodafone network.
recently,since i came back to australia, i wanted to use the australian sim card. when it was inserted, it was on "emergency".it could read the contacts saved on my sim card...so i got REALLY confused.
then recently i found out that the new phone read the number on the "three" network and not the number that was originally on the vodafone network.
does anyone know how to make the phone read the sim card?

what kind of phone is it? (brand and model)
and if i understood you correctly...u duplicated your old vodafone sim card on to your three simcard. you put it in the phone, it gets no live signal, hence "emergency."
