hey guys. i want to start doing some but i dunno what camera is should get
I was thinking of sony dsc-h50 or dsc-h10.
should i really downscale it to the h10 just for an extended point and shoot
or begin with slr-type h50 that has alot more effects to experiment?
not sure if i want to shell out 300 bucks for the h50 but it is boxing week.lol and i was thinking. these cameras should last me along time until i need more features right?
or mayb another camera u guys can recommend?

Sony cameras are okay but they have lots of noise in low-light situations, even more so than other point and shoot cameras imo. With a budget of $300, I'd probably scour through craigslist for a good condition used Canon PowerShot G9 or save up for the G10... or get a PowerShot SD880 IS, which is less than $300 new.

@ Kanauru: I wouldn't say that necessarily. You can do a lot with point and shoots and if you don't want to buy lenses, they can be useful. Case and point:
Photos taken with the h-50: http://flickr.com/cameras/sony/dsc-h50/
Photos taken with the h-10: http://flickr.com/cameras/sony/dsc-h10/
@ Shinnn: To really answer your question, I have to know a little more.
How will you be using the camera?
Why did you choose those cameras (the h-50 and h-10) rather than something like the DSC-W55?
What is your budget?

Indeed I am aware of that. But he/she said "photography" very vaguely. Because if you plan to do it as a hobby, you may end of having to upgrade to a DSLR later anyways. For me I started off with P&S and kept upgrading and upgrading. If you think a DSLR is something you're interested in the future, it might be better to get one now, otherwise you might be spending unnecessary money on P&S. DSLRs offer a wide range of lens and strobes. But DSLR is a very expensive hobby XD just keep buying and buying... Just my opinion
But for P&S I would also recommend a G9 or G10 like Erure said. But if you get a G10..you could just spend 30 bucks more to get a Nikon D40 DSLR.
It depends if you want to go DSLR or not. P&S you won't need to worry about getting lenses and it's easier to carry around.

hey thanks guys for the advice. i ended up buying a dslr anyways...once erure said to go for a g9 or g10. i raised my budget abit and got a olympus e- 410.
i am doing it as a hobby and i think it's good to get a dslr for beginning photography. shouldn't go all out if ur on a budget but yea. it's pretty cool learning all this stuff
and being able to play aorund with the functions on it.
