Do you have the type of bestfriend/s that is completely honest with you and will you tell you the truth no matter what it is? Like although they know you most likely don't want to hear it they still tell you because they feel that you have the right to know everything they do even if it hurts.

or

Is your bestfriend/s the type that would rather hide things from you that they know you would rather not know? Like they are trying to protect you from being upset and know that some things are better left unsaid.

NOTE: In both cases, you know that they are completely trustworthy

So my question is:
Which one do you have and which would you prefer? Why?



My two closest friends both fall into these two different categories and I get SO BLOODY frustrated at times!

well, i think we need both of that in different situations. So it kinda depends, sometimes its better not to know the truth and sometimes its better to know truth.

Like basically I'd want them to tell me the truth and that's what friends are for?
But if they know that i've suffered something traumatising that very day and i'm still beat about it, like just give me a day, then tell me what they wanted to tell me?

It's a lot harder to tell a lie or hide the truth from a bestfriend then to tell it to their face. Been there done that. Just for his/her protection. If I can find a friend that could do the same for me...i'll will not let that person go. However I do prefer the truth if it doesn't harm me, a friend that could weigh and judge the outcome is ideal.

My best friend and I definitely tell each other the truth. Especially when it comes to the boyfriends.

It's best to have a balance between the two. you should tell your friend the truth when it is really important and can save them from getting even more hurt or even help them become better. but you shouldn't go up to your friend and say something like "hey, that person over there was talking about how he hates your outfits" even though the person really did say it because it just causes more trouble.

i would be more offended if she's lying to me for even if she's trying to "protect" me.
that would only cause more conflicts
either way the real truth would come out eventually,
i want the truth, even if it is brutal .

I pick the one who is open and honest than the one who hides it because in the end the "TRUTH" is always "out" so what the point hiding it? It's inevitable!!!

Well. I prefer both.

For example, let's say if I danced with a guy who knew he had a dance partner already yet still danced with me not knowing the dance was already reserved.

It's best for a bestfriend to not tell me, because then I'd just end up feeling guilty about it and I'd be on an emotional ride that I don't need to be on.

However, if it was something really important, like... your boyfriend's cheating on you, then yeah. I'd definitely want my bestfriend to tell me these things even if they knew it'd hurt me.

So all in all, I guess it depends.

Only one of my best friends seems to be completely honest with me. But she always tells me the truth gently, so I don't mind. All of my other close friends usually try to protect me. I wish they wouldn't though..

Pretty much most of my close friends fall into the first categories. They never really keep anything from me because they dont want me to get hurt even more.
The weird thing is that they can tell how someone is just by looking at them. And if that person is a jerk or whatever, they can definitely tell.

I really dont know which one i prefer though. Sometimes, when they tell me something bad about someone that i'm friends with or whoever, i dont listen and then i do end up getting hurt.. I guess i prefer the truth.

But yea they know how to balance it out.
